A stop here was part of our tour of the western part of the country but, if we arrived at a typical time, then we found it extremely crowded. The gift shop sells various liqueurs and cigars but we decided to leave our shopping until our last day in Havana.

Although I found this factory interesting, because they use the baby guava to make the rum, it was very tiny and because of all the tour groups very crowded. Our guide told us a lot about the factory and we got a chance to taste the two types of rum the produce. After that we had an opportunity to buy some of the rum or other brands and cigars. They were currently only selling one of the two kinds though. This place did say they took US Dollars, which was rare to hear in Cuba.

This tour was not what we expected; it is a small bottling factory only. Tours are rushed through in mobs.
And WE WERE SOLD FAKE COHIBA CIGARS! We booked this tour through Sunwing, expecting that the cigars would be real. I have reason to suspect that they are not. Very Disappointing!

I know Pinar del Rio very well and this cramped, over-hyped, hole-in-the wall is far from the fourth most interesting attraction in Pinar-del-Rio. It is a one machine bottling line that has been around for ages and the owner must be the friend of someone who puts attractions on the state organized bus tours. The product is hardly paltable and the shelf price in the plant is higher then the price in state owned stores.

it's actually a liqueur that proves that Cubans can make a good beverage out of anything! this 19th century Factory walks you through the process in detail. Try it and Buy it here, this Guava species is endemic to Pinar del Rio province and it's nowhere else to be found!

The factory with only one bottling machine was closed, "due to Mothersday" (four days later). Nevertheless, the place was crowded with tourists and the liquor store was opened. Felt like a total tourist trap.

This would have been a fascinating tour if it were actually a tour. I came here with a Cuba Travel Network day tour from Havana to Vinales that was unfortunately very poorly organized. There were too many groups there at once (and they were all from the same company, so why wouldn't they think to stagger the groups?) so there was no tour, a hectic tasting, and a giant press of people in the store. And this sounds like a unique way to make an interesting liquor! Go on your own when there aren't tour buses around. And do NOT use Cuba Travel Network during peak travel season.

A nice little factory where they make the likure Guayabita del Pinar, a likure made of a fruit, not of Sugar. You have access to the storage with the oak drums, bottle washer, and filling station. You can even taste right from the filling line. And the bottle goes back to the filling line right away. You can take picture anywhere, kind people and a very nice tasting rum.

Stopped here as part of a coach tour to Vinales. There is a simple bottling line, with very questionable hygiene practices, and the inevitable shop you are encouraged to purchase from. Waiting outside for the coach we encountered the most aggressive begging we had witnessed in Cuba.
