Joanna Baker was known best for her characterizations on the London
West End stage. A strict and rhetorical type of actress, Baker became
the second wife of character actor Ronald Lacey (Raiders of The Lost
Ark - 1981) in 1972 after having spent three months playing opposite
him at The Royal Court (before Her Majesty). Baker and Lacey gave film
production a shot when they both financed and consulted the 1970s
B-horror flick Ghost Story. Baker died unexpectedly of a heart attack
in 1989 after a debilitating drinking problem that lasted two decades.
Her husband followed her in death in London of liver failure on May 15,
1991.
