Actor, director, producer, and screenwriter. Born in San Fransisco, CA; attended Hampshire College and Yale University. Early work was in theater and independent films including Day Trippers (1996) and Walking and Talking (1996). In 1999 he played Orson Welles in television movie RKO 281 for which he earned an Emmy and Golden Globe nomination. Also esteemed for work as classical actor in the plays of Shakespeare. For his role in Glengarry Glen Ross he was awarded a Tony. In 2005 he debuted as a director and screenwriter with Everything Is Illuminated.
