Recorded live at the 1999 W.C. Handy Festival in Henderson, Kentucky, Bernard, who is son of the late blues master Luther Allison, proves himself supremely capable of upholding the family name while creating new moves of his own. Ater a blistering instrumental opener and a funky follow-through he hits a true blues, ups it for a couple more then delivers a tour-de-force, 18 minute rendition of Buddy Guy's "Leave My Girl Alone". For an encore he unpacks the slide for another fretboard workout, completing an hour of electrifying rhythm 'n' blues.
