This is a really exciting concert from the two remaining members of Queen and their old mate Paul Rodgers (plus the excellent backing band of Jamie Moses, Spike Edney and Danny Miranda). I recently saw the footage from when the whole Queen and Paul Rodgers thing started - it was a performance for the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame and it was televised in 2004 - you can see it on you tube - it's absolutely electrifying, in fact one of the best rock performances I have ever seen -It was obvious to all of them that they should continue the chemistry that existed. They did, and this is what came from it at a real peak. The musicianship of the whole band has matured into something extraordinary - the songs seem to have more 'feel' and subtlety in their execution than ever before. Paul's singing is first class. Sure.. it's not Queen (how could it be? Derrr!)..and there were some nay sayers when Paul Rodgers began to sing with them - but for flip's sake! .. it's a classic rock revival of unparalleled quality. Queen and Paul Rodgers was a sublime coming together of brilliant musicians playing some of the best rock music EVER..so I say YESS!! I'm so glad that we have this DVD and a (surprisingly good) studio album to remember this great musical chapter in all of their careers. I think for Paul Rodgers it was a job really well done, and for Brian May and Roger Taylor a chance to ply their craft to those huge stadium sized audiences (maybe) one last time...and why not. It ROCKS.

When Queen, minus Freddy Mercury came to Belfast, I didn't bother to go to see them. What a mistake, now that I know what I missed.
Live in Ukraine is the best live show I have ever seen on DVD, and that includes Queen at Wembley. T
he singing of Paul Rodgers was sensational, and although his stage movements were fairly static compared with his predecessor, Mercury, the joy that shone through his performance, reciprocated by the crowd, gives me as the viewer/listener a great sense of excitement.
Brian May was electrifying and wonderful in the way his playing interracted with the vocals.
Roger Taylor, brilliant as always drove the beat with a powerhouse performance.
Turn the volume right up, and become part of this immense crowd of 350,000 enjoying what for many, was probably the best night of their musical lives.

Both me and my husband really enjoyed this tribute to Freddie Mercury. I have been an avid fan of Queen since seeing them in the 1970's at Preston Guild Hall when they were supporting Mott the Hoople! Cannot believe they were the support band then but how things change! I don't think Paul Rogers is trying to be Freddie, no-one could replace him but he does an exceedingly good job! I agree with most of the other reviewers. If you want to get the feel of a Queen Concert and unfortunately Freddie can't be there, then this is the next best thing!

It's an added bonus if you like Free and Bad Company as Paul sings some of his favourites from both. Overall an excellent DVD!

I went to see the Cosmos Rocks tour in Liverpool and it was a fantastic night out with the whole band on top form.

Unlike some of the other moaners leaving reviews here I accept that Brian and Rodger have moved on and things are different now. One of the true pleasures is that the songs that Freddie wrote and sang are still going strong and work well with Paul's voice. It is good to hear some of Paul's early stuff again too and it was treat to have a few new songs from the new album.

OK it is a bit of a repetition - but then aren't all live shows? Look at the previous Queen releases of live shows on VHS and DVD and you will find that 90% of the playlist is the same going back to Live at Milton Keynes Bowl.

The extras explain how the filming was all rather off the cuff and last minute and it does show in places. The one place I was really looking forward to seeing again was the 'evolving' drum solo where Rodger's kit grows as the solo progresses. On stage it was a fantastic thing to watch but unfortunately it doesn't appear that the camera crew knew in advance what was going on because the whole experience seems to be pretty much missing with lots of close ups on Rodger's face and the crowd which turns the DVD experience into an ordinary drum solo.

There were some genuinely moving moments in the filming that redeems the overall show - not least a quarter of a million non-English speaking people singing Love of my Life flawlessly.

Finally where was GaGa? It was in the stage show so why isn't it in on the DVD?

All in all not the best concert recording but still worth having.

This concert is one of Queen's best. Paul Rodgers sings but Freddie has some parts too via video.
He is not forgotten. But for all you Queen fans to quote Brian May, Freddie is gone and we are not.
And they are doing what they do best which is create and play great music. The very best. This concert was a real feat of engineering and I was so moved by their video of Freddie and their caring for the cause of aids prevention. The feeling in this show was of history being made. As far as I know they had never played in the Ukraine before and you see all these people mainly younger, singing the songs. ) The Ukraine is apparently very threatened with a big aids problem right now. Queen was asked to help and did so, in their usual holy cow! How are we going to pull this one off?! Style! As usual the stage show was cutting edge, the crowd was record breaking- min estimate 350,000 attending plus 20 million reached via television. The light show, the technical perfection, the whole fantastic presentation. It was very moving. I also have a new appreciation for Paul Rodgers as well, he is an incredible singer. He didn't try to replace Freddie but had his own style and the songs are just put together to suit the new lineup well. The usual Queen exacting attention to detail and highest standards shines through.
Plus this has the concert with the CDs you can listen to in the car. Its great to have both.
PS. I have spoken to people a little older who listened to Queen before and have told me yeah but Freddie isn't here anymore, the only thing I can say is yes, true, but this is still so incredible
its not exactly the same because obviously its a different singer but please come to present time and don't waste the chance of seeing and listening to Queen. Besides, somehow it still feels like he's with us anyway. And I know he would've loved this concert!

Vielen Dank Brian May, Roger Taylor, Paul Rodgers, Spike Edney, Jamie Moses und Danny Miranda.
