Kangana Ranaut announces release date for Emergency a day after her ‘Jai Shri Ram’ video from Ayodhya Ram Temple went viral

Kangana Ranaut's directorial Emergency was earlier supposed to release in November 2023.

Actor Kangana Ranaut announced the new release date of her directorial film Emergency with a new poster of her film. The movie, which was earlier slated to release on November 24, 2023, will not have a global release on June 14, 2024. In the movie, Kangana will be playing the role of India’s former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

The actor, in the new poster is dressed as her character and looks sharply into the camera as she resembles a striking similarity with late Prime Minister. Kangana added strongly worded caption to go along with the post. She wrote, “Unlock the story behind India’s darkest hour. Announcing #Emergency on 14th June,2024. Witness history come alive as the most feared & fiercest Prime Minister #IndiraGandhi thunders into cinemas. #Emergency in cinemas on 14th June, 2024.”

On Monday, the actor attended the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha ceremony in Ayodhya. Sharing a video where she is seen loudly chanting ‘Jai Shri Ram’, she wrote, “Ram aa gaye.” The actor reached Ayodhya a few days before the consecration ceremony and met spiritual leaders and also became a part of a cleanliness drive  at Ayodhya’s Hanuman Garhi Temple.

Meanwhile, Emergency is based around the 1975 Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi and marks the first solo directorial project for Kangana. The film also stars Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhary, Anupam Kher and Milind Soman as important political figures during that time-frame.
