Brilliant Release Remaster

Roy Wood is a genius. Thanks Cherry red for putting this out. Lovely remaster with some great additional cuts. An affectionate kiss to the 50s done by an 'imaginary band'. Lots of fun with an incredible intro. Roy certainly captures/borrows the sound of that era. Most enjoyable.

Roy Wood, the forgotten genius?
2021年8月9日にオーストラリアでレビュー済みAmazonで購入
Roy Wood, the slightly odd Englishman that started The Move, kickstarted Electric Light Orchestra (and I contend invented glam rock as a side show), seems to be a tad forgotten these days. Luckily re-releases of his albums - this one from the mid-70’s post his run in ELO - keep the flame flickering. Eddy & the Falcons is a heady milkshake of 50’s 60’s and 70’s Rock sounds that is an aural delight. Mainly the 50’s it must be said. There is a busy mischievousness to this album that takes it out of the run of the mill 50’s revivalist stuff. Fully recommended at least to those Wood heads sold on The Move’s magnificent Message from the Country disc.

Wonderful Wizzard

In memory of Lesley Ryan, January 1959 - April 2021
Lesley was a huge Wizzard fan. I often heard their songs from her radio/cassette player in her room at college. I was really not an album buyer back then so did not purchase this at the time. When I saw a comment on a Facebook page that this had been re-issued, I had to get a copy.
This is a wonderful CD, in a cardboard case, much like the old vinyl album would have been. There was even a neatly folded 9.5 inch by 14 inch poster of Roy Wood, which I am sure Lesley would have loved. This album only produced one single, This Is The Story Of My Life (Baby), reaching number 34 in the UK chart and spending the 4 weeks of August 1974 in the top 50. The album reached number 19 in the album chart. This is Roy introducing a fictitious rock 'n' roll band, Edddy & The Falcons. The name actually came from the name of a band Roy was in back in the 60's. All 10 tracks from the original 1974 release are here. They sound really good. All are up tempo rock 'n' roll tunes. One of my favourites is Come Back Karen, and I also like the final track, We're Gonna Rock 'N' Roll Tonight. There is also included a booklet with photos, and extensive sleeve notes detailing Roy's musical journey. I love reading sleeve notes on LPs.
This extended edition also has 5 other tracks on it. Two well known singles, Rock 'N' Roll Winter and Are You Ready to Rock, as well as their B sides, and one other B side. Nice to have them included. This has been well put together by Cherry Red Records.
All in all, a good buy and if you love Roy's pseudo "Spector" sound, you really will enjoy this. Travel back to 1974 with a great album.

This Rock and Roll album would have five stars had it been the complete original Double Album. Get “Main Street” and you will see that the double album would have been superb.
