It's late in the evening, she's wondering what clothes to wear
She puts on her make-up and brushes her long blonde hair
And then she asks me, "Do I look all right?"
And I say, "Yes, you look wonderful tonight"

We go to a party and everyone turns to see
This beautiful lady that's walking around with me
And then she asks me, "Do you feel all right?"
And I say, "Yes, I feel wonderful tonight"

I feel wonderful because I see
The love light in your eyes
And the wonder of it all
Is that you just don't realize how much I love you

It's time to go home now and I've got an aching head
So I give her the car keys and she helps me to bed
And then I tell her, as I turn out the light
I say, "My darling, you were wonderful tonight
Oh my darling, you were wonderful tonight"

Okay guys. Pattie Boyd wrote a book, and she describes the exact situation-- "One night, unusually, me and Eric were going out, and I couldn't decide what to wear. I was taking a very long time to do my makeup and hair, putting on one dress, then another and another, throwing them all into a pile on the floor. Poor Eric had been ready for hours and was waiting patiently. He was so sweet- at least, in the early days. The worst he would say if I annoyed him was 'you're a silly clown.'"

Then it goes on to say-- "Suddenly, as I was flinging dresses on and off, inspiration struck. When I finally got downstairs and asked the inevitable question, "Do I look alright?" he played what he'd written:

It's late in the evening; she's wondering what clothes to wear. She puts on her makeup and brushes her long blonde hair. And then she asks me, "Do I look alright?" And I say "Yes, you look wonderful tonight."

this song is about a little crippled fella, whos girlfriend/carer is worried about, hence asking 'do you feel alright?' The line is actually 'i've got an aching LEG,' and the woman drives home because obviously he can't drive

This song is truly beautiful in that it explains in the most basic of terms how one can find themselves completely and utterly in love and how important it is to share how we feel with that special someone.

I absolutely love this song and will make a point to personally sing this song to my new wife at my wedding reception. I don't think I could ever simply ignore this song if I heard it playing. Eric Clapton is a true artist, filling his songs with pure truths and meanings that we all can relate too.

Thanks again Eric for sharing your work with the rest of the world.

This is my parents' song. I love hearing my dad play it on the guitar for my mom because it just goes to show how in love you can be with someone after years and years. To still feel the same way you did when you first started dating is just awesome.

    My Interpretation

When I hear this song. I really hear the woman asking "do you care about me?", and not how she looks. And he relpies "yes", in such a sincere way.

This is like the most beautiful song there is. I had it as my first song played at my wedding reception. I love this song.

Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"
