Villanova University Reviews
Rating 3.73 out of 5 1,575 reviews
Villanova is a beautiful campus. It's in a safe suburb of Philadelphia surrounded by affluent communities. Dorms are basic cinderblock rectangles, nothing special and a little tired. The landscaping is well attended and picturesque. The church is very pretty but the library is depressing. They have a good business and nursing school. There are no sororities or fraternities on campus thus making it a "dry campus" so the party scene is somewhat nonexistent and lots of students go into the bars in the city. They have good internships and alumni connections.
If you aren't white or rich, prepare to struggle heavily. I am a Junior and still struggle with making friends with the awfully cliquey culture. Not to mention most the social scene is greek life focus, which is centered on being attractive, white, and rich. Racism is not overt, but there's heavy bias by just seeing the segregation of friend groups. I rarely see white people befriend non-athletic black people. I HIGHLY recommend choosing a different school for the sheer conformist culture that leaves many students like myself battling depression because of the overwhelming loneliness. Not to mention allocation of funds to an unnecessary library when they don't have enough housing for seniors on campus. Administration is too focused on prospective students to ensure necessities of their current students.
Villanova University was the perfect mix of academics and student life. With multiple options for majors as well as groups to be involved in, a student has the ability to truly form the life they want. Villanova focuses on providing students with leadership opportunities, faculty mentors, and life experiences such as trips into Philadelphia for classes.
