There is a point to be made about Comcast owning both NBCU and Peacock and double-dipping the regular cable subscriber with the added streaming fee for the streaming viewer. Why do I need both, Comcast?
When I had Comcast you got Peacock for free. Do you not anymore?
The game is not on the formerly free version of peacock only on premium...peacock is a bait and switch app. The free version came with roku on the tv I bought....most of peacocks " good" stuff only can be seen with peacock premium.
That’s what I’m saying. Comcast used to give me the free premium version because I was able to watch the WWE stuff.
Ah,..peacock changed this many moons ago.
This is how I have Peacock premium version. I have a 2 year promotion from Comcast that started in the Fall of last year.
If you have Xfinity internet you get free peacock premium. I currently have it.
Only certain tiers. I’ve had Xfinity for over a decade and I lost Peacock as a perk this past summer
Only for a year if you just have cable.
More like NB-C-U later alligator cuz F that

"Fuck you pay me...live in the local market? Fuck you, pay me. Already have the sports package that is $70/month, fuck you, pay me. Terminal childhood cancer and last wish is to watch the game on the hospitals 20" LCD tv? Fuck you pay me"
-Comcast
I have espn+ and can’t watch games that are on espn. That’s a bigger ripoff
you gotta pay for the ESPN- add-on for that.
That only gets you manningcaat games. You need ESPN÷ for the actual games.
That's only the halftime broadcast, you need ESPN× for that
That actually only gets you the manningcast in an octobox in 8 different languages (english not included). you need ESPN* for that.
We need an ESPN= to bundle everything into one package
Wait...really? You have to have literal cable to watch MNF?
MNF is on ABC this season so you can just buy an antenna instead of cable
I'm curious if the guy couldn't have watched it prior to that.
Yeah, you have to have a cable subscription.
This whole streaming experiment has been a hilarious disaster. Direct tv just got in a contract dispute with NBC and dropped Sunday night football. Bally sports got in contact disputes with YouTube tv and all my access to local nba, mlb, and nhl went bye bye.
Then Bally sports went tits up.
Then in Arizona, the new suns owner canceled the suns contract with Bally sports
So basically, the best way for me to watch nfl, nba, mlb, and nhl is the humble antenna. I am going to cancel all my streaming tv now because all the Arizona sports teams are now played over the air
I had the bundle with hulu and disney for a little bit and IIRC there was like a handful of MNF games that were there, but the overwhelming majority were not. Like it might have only been 1 game I could watch?
I was not super thrilled.
I have the Hulu/ESPN+ bundle and got every Monday game.
Do you have hulu live? Because if you don't, you didn't get every mnf game.
Yes. ESPN+ is not, and has never been promised as, the full ESPN catalog of channels/offerings. Not defending them at all, but you're not going to get access to all of ESPN for ~$11/month.
What is “all of espn” outside of espn+ though? 3 channels?
ESPN±
Oh thank goodness I am not the only one that has to deal with that. it pisses me off.
Cable & Satellite providers are the reason ESPN can’t include linear tv offerings as part of ESPN+. Basically, they would demand a reduction in the price per subscriber paid to ESPN if the linear programming was no longer exclusive to the cable channel.
ESPN+ is garbage. So is NFL+
Edit: I misread the comment, you still should be able to though, but i dont have espn+
Yeah but what if you don’t have a TV provider? I cut the cord years ago and ESPN+ doesn’t let me watch games without entering my provider…
Is it not on the free version of peacock? Also this article is behind a paywall which is hilarious given the topic.
Unfortunately not, that's why so many people are outraged by it and rightfully so.
i'm not mad. but by chance, i'll be on pirate theme'd cruise at the same time as that game
I’m just gonna go to my favorite American bovine-themed chicken establishment.
Let’s go sports bar
Yo ho Yo ho a football watchers life for me.
Savvy?
Avast!
I hope the high seas treat you well, matey.
To be fair people could easily be outraged even if it made no sense at all.
Worst part is Peacock doesn't even have a free trial lol.
Must have a pretty great life if you choose to get outraged by an NFL game being on a streaming service. Some people have actual problems.
Maybe some people have a lot of shit going on in their lives and find it upsetting that they can’t enjoy watching their team in the playoffs in one of the few moments of distraction they get. Just because I can afford to sign up for a streaming service I’m not interested in to watch a single playoff game doesn’t change the fact that some people can’t. I really hope you’re being sarcastic.
Doesn’t look like it.
The Saturday night contest between the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs will only be on Peacock, unless the viewer lives in the local television markets of the respective teams (the game will air free). For everyone else across the country, a Peacock subscription plans start at $5.99 per month.
Huh, maybe my wife pays for peacock and I dont even know it?
It’s included free if you have Comcast.
Comcast cable I'd assume, not just Comcast internet right?
There’s a “yeah your wife pays for cock” joke to make here, but tbh, nah. Maybe this is a true growing up moment for me.
It’s not. It’s only available on the premium version of Peacock and on local channels within the Miami and KC areas. So sayeth a Dolphins fan living in Denver.
Didn't they axe the free tier like a year ago?
Yes, there is no free version of Peacock for new subscribers...maybe if you're grandfathered in?
They make you get their free trial at least.
Free....such a rip off???
Last one I tried to watch repeatedly directed me to sign up, so I assume no. Fuck em.
lol yeah I thought it was free???
iphone = paywall
try chrome
I think its ridiculous they would try to rip me off by doing that!
The real burden falls on us 20s and 30 year olds who gotta help the boomers set that shit up
Hey, us GenXers have to help out 75+ year old parents while being regaled with stories of the Ice Bowl and Alan Ameche.
Truth!
So glad my dad is tech literate (spent almost 40 years working in the industry, a "get the newest and shiniest device" kinda guy), but when he goes, my sister and I are fucked. My mom can't turn on the TV without my dad's help.
And I hope they say thank you! These insanely rich and greedy league and network jackasses need to remember that it was Boomers and their parents who watched pro football on TV in the 60s and 70s, and helped make the NFL the behemoth that it is today. Ingrates. My 95 year old mom is not happy about this, and they really shouldn't piss her off. Now get off my damn astro turf!
You guys have had a fuckton of shit dumped on you by us, your predecessors. I’d like to apologize on our behalf, although it probably doesn’t mean much.
Your generation impresses the hell out of me (I’m 56). I wish we’d dealt you a fair hand. That you’ve got to save this country without much help is bullshit.
Don't forget them getting annoyed at you if you don't know how to set something up, or why something isn't working.

A comment can’t be underrated if it’s 2 minutes old.

Just tell them to watch the highlights on YouTube after
My tube’s on second.
I can deal with a few regular season games only on Prime, Peacock, whatever but playoff games exclusively on Peacock feels kinda extreme. I wonder how much they are paying the NFL for the rights to this game lol, must be a ton.
They paid 110 million dollars for this game. As much as we hate this, the NFL isn’t going to turn down that bag for a single game.
‘How much more profit do Goodell and NBC need to make at the expense of hard working Americans?’ asked Rep. Pat Ryan
“If anyone is going to steal from Americans, it should only be politicians” he continued. /s
But is it really /s tho
Just didn’t want to get banned by a mod without a sense of humor.
It should be my god given right as a US American to watch the NFL on broadcast or at least basic cable 🇺🇸🫡
To the representative’s point, the NFL is basically treated as a utility service with the way it’s allowed to act as a cartel/eat up so much public funding. So, morally, there’s a very strong case to be made that access should be mandated to be as broad as possible. Up to and maybe including subsidies for consumers.
