After almost 10 years outside the classroom, I was nervous to start a graduate school program. CSUN has proved there was no need to be nervous! The professors have been AMAZING, understanding and accommodating. The way the information has been taught has been wonderful - each week builds on the week before, making it very achievable to excel in their schoolwork while working full-time. I can't recommend this program enough!
My academic experience honestly has not been the best as a first generation, first born, Latina in the family. When I got out of high school, I decided to go to a community college in order to not put my parents in any debt. The first community college I attended was definitely one of the reasons why I felt like I got "set back". I went to many different counselors the 2 years I was at the first community college and every time I received different feedback on my educational plan. This definitely was a huge awakening in having me rethink the community college I was at and even the major I was in. Luckily, when COVID hit, I decided to finish off my semester at the first community college and start 2021 Spring semester at Rio Hondo College as a Kinesiology major. Thanks to the counselor I had at Rio Hondo,I was able to graduate Spring of 2022 and transfer to California State University, Northridge and it has honestly been wonderful and I am proud to say I will be graduating Fall of 2024.
My college experience was about as normal and perfect for my first time. The professors were more than definitely willing to help out as long as you were serious about your commitment. This is the only reason why I want to go back to school, I miss learning and pushing my own limits.
