Doha, September 28 (QNA) - HE Sheikh Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Jassim Al-Thani, author of the book 'Jassim The Leader, Founder of Qatar' has revealed that the idea for writing the book was three decades in the making. He spent that time gathering documents that ended up being building block on which the book was based.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), His Excellency clarified that he firstly intended to collect the correct information about the character of the founder from the statesmen and documents he sought from a number of countries worldwide, including UK, Turkey, India and others, pointing out that he worked diligently to obtain those documents that would help in writing the book. The book was issued in the English language in 2012, and has sold 10,000 copies. He noted that the Arabic version of the book featured the storytelling, not just the sequence of events and facts, pointing out that he encountered a myriad of challenges and difficulties during the process of translating and writing the book, including the references on which the author had counted to obtain the information and the documents to narrate the stories and events as they happened, which took several months to achieve before issuing the first edition of the book.
In almost 200 page, the Arabic version of the book, that was released a few days ago, narrates the life of the founder of the State of Qatar Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani in a style that was based on storytelling when he appeared as a teenager, and a knight whose father, Sheikh Mohammed bin Thani is proud of, and then his emergence as a new leader on the land of the State of Qatar.
He said that he managed to obtain some rare documents from Qatar National Library that talk about the founder Sheikh Jassim Bin Mohammed Bin Thani. He described the library as a vital reference to further obtain documents that are no longer available anywhere, the documents were significantly beneficial in collecting the information used to write the book.
The significance of the edition is fixated on highlighting and consolidating the principles that were set by the leader during that period, until these principles reached the current generation from leaders who continue to carry the torch firmly and wisely to build a country that occupies a leading position among the countries of the world at all levels.
The book, which we all are proud to issue, is a precious jewel for Qatar and its people, and it should have been translated into numerous languages and delivered to the entire peoples of the world in order for them to have a glimpse on Qatar and its founder, His Excellency said, pointing out that he intends to translate the book into French language in collaboration with the French Embassy to the State of Qatar, in addition to translating it into Chinese language and other languages in the future.
With regard to the idea of publishing the book, His Excellency clarified that after years of thinking he wondered: Why was not a story written about Sheikh Jassim Bin Mohammed Bin Thani, May Allah bestow his mercy on him, to be comprehensive about his biography, life and the beginning of the founding of the state, afterwards the question is translated into a reality, he then started to answer that question through pursuing an approval for this idea. However, despite the numerous hurdles he encountered, including the shortage of documents and references on the founder and his character, however, he insisted on collecting and writing this valuable and interesting anecdotal biography, bearing the hardship of traveling several times to various countries of the world to obtain references, documents and information that nourish the book and provide it with reliable and valuable information about the life of the founder.
