This is actually an extraordinary museum, both in the breadth and extent of its collection. To avoid the potential crowds of Sunday (when admission is free) , we went on a cold Saturday afternoon for $15 per head for seniors; this seemed to be a good call, since we never shared any gallery with any more than a handful of other patrons. This is a confusing collection of interconnected buildings; rather than detracting from the the experience, it allows wonderful transitions from one collection to the other. And that range indeed needs some transitions: Contemporary, colonial and modern American; ancient Egyptian, Greek, Asian, Egyptian; Textiles, sculpture, paintings. We kept a good pace throughout, and it still took us three hours, without taking a coffee break at the cafe. Having been to many of the majors: the Louvre, New York Metropolitan, Philadelphia, Smithsonian, I would still include this facility as a well worth the visit.

A tip re parking: the museum is within the RISD / Brown University campus area. It has no no parking area of its own and much of the surrounding street parking reserved for the schools, or is 2hr limit Monday thru Saturday. there are enough pay lots to the north and across the river to the northwest and west several blocks away. We found plentiful free street parking 8 minutes' walk to the southeast on Power street east of Benefit. Hills are steep in that area, and to avoid some challenging effort, If you park on the southeast side, you can enter the museum directly from Benefit street, through Cafe Pearl; though their map mentions this entrance clearly, there is virtually no signage indicating this as a museum entrance from the street; look for the cafe at 224.

Have been a Broadway series subscriber for a few years and enjoy every trip to PPAC. Seats are comfortable- more leg room the closer to the stage you get. Recommend first dress circle, great view and sound!

Definitely worth a stop in Providence, even if it's just to look around the building for a little bit. The inside is beautifully decorated and has several pieces of artwork and memorials to look at.

The free one-hour tour was expertly done and well worth the time. Ann was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic throughout the tour.

It’s well known that Brown is both Ivy League and always ranks in the top of the best schools in the country. The very not important thing I learned about this visit is that Ivy League schools don’t have to have ivy covered walls. Maybe I missed it.

Wonderful zoo, very well spaced out, large and aesthetic enclosures, very helpful staff (always ready to provide information), and a lovely selection of animals from golden Takins to red pandas, tree kangaroo, red wolves and snow leopards. We loved the rainforest where animals roam freely, and where we saw a zoo keeper feeding a sloth (and a little golden tamarin stole the pellet!). The giant otters were very impressive as well...

Such a unique and beautiful library! The children’s section is so welcoming with a low horseshoe shaped bench surrounded by low bookshelves. So much fun!

The park is large with lots of trails and features. I liked waking around the trails seeing different water views. I especially liked the dirt trail along the lake. The Japanese garden was nice but crowded. I wished I would have come earlier in the day to see the botanical garden. The parking was terrible if you come on a weekend. The spot I found didn't have a turnaround so everyone had to back out to get to the main road through the park.

The house is extremely well preserved and beautiful. The tour guide was very knowledgable and open to answering questions. I live locally but this was my first time visiting Lippitt House - I will be bringing back all my future guests!

Cool looking historic homes up on a hill overlooking the city. Driving can be a bit tight with the 2 way streets that only have ONE lane…. Lots of alleyways and restored homes. Worth a look and also seating at Prospect Terrace overlooking the city

Stephen Hopkins was the founding father and governor of Rhode Island and signatory of the Declaration of Independence. George Washington had stayed at this house. Their are many gorgeous artifacts and heirlooms. The tour is fascinating and highly recommended.
This is NOT the house of Stephen Hawking the English theoretical physicist, cosmologist, and author - as one of the reviewers posted.

We had an absolutely blast spending a morning here with an 8 and 10 year old. There are so many interesting materials to interact with. They stayed busy and engaged all morning. After a couple hours one commented to me that they were glad they got to spend the morning having fun instead of learning! Little did they know how educational all their learning was. The staff were amazing about cleaning throughout the day. Everyone was friendly and welcoming and inclusive. Signs are in both English and Spanish. We highly recommend
