America's favorite family shake their booties in an obscure cult variety show.Included are high quality copies of all nine episodes (some including the original commercials, alternate endings, etc.), the Donny & Marie sketch that launched the Bradys' second series, interviews, musical performances by Fake Jan (Geri Reischl), and much more.
I received the show on the proviso that I could freely distribute this rarity (which was mostly overlooked on DVD due to music rights renegotiations) as long as it was not for profit, and I urge you to regard those wishes. If the Krofft brothers and surviving cast members aren't getting residuals for the show that they really worked their Brady butts off on (no matter how it turned out), then you shouldn't be making a cash from it either!
Instead, buy yourself a copy of "Love to Love You Bradys: The Bizarre True Story of the Brady Bunch Variety Hour" by Ted Nichelson and Susan Olsen (aka Cindy Brady). It gives an amazing, comprehensive and sometimes scandalous insight into the making of this short-lived but well-remembered musical comedy atrocity.
EPISODES
Pilot: The Brady kids are convinced Mike is untalented, so Bobby recruits Tony Randall to portray their father in the family's new variety show.
Episode 1: A mix-up with moving man Mr. Merrill (Rip Taylor) results in the Bradys having to put up Lee Majors and Farrah Fawcett for the night. Kaptain Kool and the Kongs (Michael Lembeck, Mickey McMeel, Debra Clinger & Louise DuArt) perform "Names."
Episode 2: Bobby recruits Milton Berle to write for the show, but the headliner
soon takes over and leaves his mark on every aspect of the production. Tina Turner also sings.
Episode 3: Greg gets homesick when he moves into his own apartment - plus Vincent Price warns him that it's haunted! H.R. Pufnstuf performs.
Episode 4: Mike is offended when his family insults his singing, so announces plans
to do a solo song on the variety show. But when he begins rehearsing
with Charo, Carol becomes jealous.
Episode 5: Cindy bumps into Rich Little and gives him amnesia. Edgar Bergen performs (as himself, Charlie McCarthy and Mortimer Snerd) and Melanie (Safka) sings.
Episode 6: Marcia announces her engagement to a free-spirited hippie. Meanwhile,
Redd Foxx studies the Bradys in preparation for his upcoming variety
show. The Ohio Players also performs their song "Fire."
Episode 7: The Brady kids neglect to check with their parents before inviting the kids from "What's Happening!!" to appear on the show. Rick Dees performs, and Patty Maloney appears as both herself and a "Disco Duck!"
Episode 8: Paul Williams tries to win Carol's heart, much to Mike's chagrin. Meanwhile, Jan fawns over guest-star Lynn Anderson.
