Dressed up to ride... though I didn't get to participate in the coolest motorcycle gathering for this year's @gentlemansride. However last year, I had a total blast riding out on Edna (my RE Bullet) on a beautiful May day with thousands of others all polished and dappered up to raise funding for men's health. In particular prostate cancer awareness. You helped me raise over £800! West Sussex this year raised over £33k. Brilliant! It means a lot to me and is not forgotten. Some know I went through treatment for PC back in 2016. Every cancer diagnosis is flippin' terrible, so raising awareness, supporting friends and getting the right treatment advice is crucial. It was so great to see my dear old bass friend and monster bass player Eddie Branch in Birmingham the other day. We laughed, shared memories and Ed gave me some pics. We were Bauhaus singer Peter Murphy's rhythm section for the 'Hundred Men' alongside Paul Statham (keys/gtr) and Peter Bonas (gtr) during his most successful years in the 80s early 90s. We had fun at the King's Center, Melbourne, Florida last night, now we get to rest up for a couple of days before our last 3 concerts of the tour. Frustratingly, the South American dates were all suddenly cancelled, so we'll soon be done. But we've had an incredible run through Oct/Nov. Thank you @thenumberofthereish Posted @withregram • I saw the Martin Barre Band tonight. Typing that gets more surreal as the minutes go on. It's never impacted me more than sitting in that theater as to just HOW much Martin's guitar work with Jethro Tull shaped how I approach guitar. The first riffs that hooked me? Martin on Aqualung. First licks to teach me cool bends? Martin on Locomotive Breath. I've been listening to his playing since I was 5 years old and I still find little tricks and pieces of his perfomances that amaze me. His band he has with him are beyond talented. They kept those Tull tunes true while still adding in their own flare showcasing just how damn good they are. It was a pleasure briefly meeting his drummer Terl and having a nice brief conversation his very sweet wife Julie at the merch table (hope your daughter feels better soon!) Just simply insane. I am very proud to have joined Hardcase as an endorser way back in the early 90s when the company first started. Hardcase were a game changer for drum protection and spawned a good many copycats, but nobody has done it better. Huge applause to Dave and Annie Eyre who have made Hardcase what it is today. I was recording the lovely Arcdrum yesterday for Nashville producer friend @danwheelermusic - this is not the track, but a little clip I made just for fun. The @arcdrum_official is a unique custom instrument designed and made by Richard Coates in the UK. It's all wood and has 2 adjustable jingle stacks and udu style sound chamber. 'Seven Times' is a collection of 10 tracks I'm super proud to bring you. These are some of my favourite recent collaborations and co-writes with friends and this collection is only available on CD via my website or downloadable on Bandcamp. Links in BIO The no.7 is said to represent a great many wonderful things and I've started and finished with tracks in 7/8 a time-signature I also love to play in. The cover is a by-fold wallet and I created the artwork from a photo I took looking out past Brighton's West pier on a stunning evening earlier this year. The colours are unfiltered, but the image warped for effect. Anyway, there it is - and thanks for looking at this and maybe risking a few quid to have a listen.
