401. Fr3deR1cK Taylor “Where Is America The Beautiful?”
Fr3deR1cK Taylor's new film ""Where Is America The Beautiful?" is screening at 4:30 PM (Pacific) at Dances With Films the same day that this podcast releases! If you happen to be listening on June 27, 2023, rush over to the Hollywood & Highland and catch the film! This was Fr3deR1cK's third time as a guest on this podcast and I nearly named this episode "Fr3deR1cK & Jeff Shoot the S**t, Part 2" but, since he took time out of his busy festival schedule to stop by the Film Invasion Los Angeles opening night mixer and come see me again to shoot the shit, it only makes sense to name the episode after the new film that, sadly, wasn't at a festival that I program.
For the record, his Documentary Short "Pre-Existing Freedom" was an Official Selection at the Sherman Oaks Film Festival in 2021 and took home the award for Outstanding Performance by an Individual, Documentary. I’m proud to say that you can catch "Pre-Existing Freedom" in Season 7 of the Discover Indie Film TV Series on Amazon Prime Video!

Adele Thomas came into DIF HQ to talk about her career and, specifically, her music video "She" that took home three awards at the Sherman Oaks Film Festival in November 2020. Adele Thomas's music video "She" played the Sherman Oaks Film Festival in November 2020 and this beautiful work of art took home the Grand Jury Prize for Best Music Video as well as the award for Outstanding Performance, Individual – Experimental for Kennedy Knopf and Outstanding Cinematography – Experimental for Julie Kim. You can watch "She" right now on the streaming service TVHi and at some point in 2023 it will join the Discover Indie Film TV Series on Amazon Prime Video.

I took a look and, as I say in the first minute of this podcast, Rick pulled off what hundreds (maybe thousands) of filmmakers have tried before; Set a feature length thriller in a single location and make it engaging from start to finish. Eva Urrutia wrote, directed and co-produced the brilliant film "Avec Le Temps (With Time)" that came to the Sherman Oaks Film Festival in 2020 and took home two Grand Jury Prizes. I cannot express to you how beautiful I find "Avec Le Temps" to be. You simply have to watch it and you CAN! The film is in Season 7, Episode 8 of the Discover Indie Film TV Series on Amazon Prime Video.

395. Eva Urrutia “Avec Le Temps (With Time)”
Writer/director Eva Urrutia brought the brilliant film "Avec Le Temps (With Time)" to the Sherman Oaks Film Festival in 2020 and this incredible film brought home the Grand Jury Prize for Best Short Film – Drama Best Director, Short Film. I cannot express to you how beautiful I find "Avec Le Temps" to be. You simply have to watch it and you CAN! The film is in Season 7, Episode 8 of the Discover Indie Film TV Series on Amazon Prime Video.
I looked forward to this conversation with Eva for a long time. In fact, I'm 100% certain that the first time I saw "Avec Le Temps" I thought to myself, "I need to talk to this filmmaker on the podcast."

Filmmaker Duane Andersen came to the Sherman Oaks Film Festival in 2022 with the incredible film "30 Meetings / 30 Days" and took home SIX awards. This film blew my mind the first time that I saw it and, honestly, gets better eery time that I watch it again. You can watch it right now - just go to "30 Meetings / 30 Days" on Omeleto and enjoy!
As long as I had Duane on Zoom to do an interview obviously I was going to have him answer the 4Qs as well. Talk about great taste - maybe I'm biased because Duane and I are both California born and bred and grew up watching the same stuff, but this is a Great List.

Duane Andersen brought "30 Meetings / 30 Days" to the Sherman Oaks Film Festival in 2022 and this incredible film brought home six, SIX, awards. It would take up just too much space to name them all. The film is a triumph on every level and you can watch it now! Just go to "30 Meetings / 30 Days" on Omeleto and enjoy!
Duane has led a long and interesting career in film. It was fantastic to hear his story and get to know him better. If only he'd lived in L.A. I'd be inviting him to a BBQ this weekend.

James Oxyer wrote, directed and produced the short film "Sorry" that took home the Audience Award for Best Short Film - Horror at Film Invasion Los Angeles in 2022. This fun and entertaining horror short also received the "Pretty Spiff" honor from my 15 year old who has extremely demanding taste and exclusively watches horror films. Renetta is a top professional in the film industry, with credits that include films such as Promising Young Woman, The Curse of La Llorona, A wrinkle in Time, The Babysitter, Selma, and over seventy more! And she has done that remarkable move of working on Oscars winning films as a script supervisor while also writing, directing and producing her own work. Renetta should be an inspiration to everyone.

Klaus is a terrific guy and I now you'll enjoy this interview. In fact, he and I are neighbors and didn't know it! Although there is an asterisk to that. We live very near each other as the crow flies, but a Los Angeles freeway lays between our homes which means if I tried to visit him on foot it would take close to an hour. Such is modern, urban living.
