Stressful, frequent interruptions, meetings that can be unproductive because leadership doesn’t listen

Treated poorly among men with power
Banquet Manager (Former Employee) - Frederick, MD - April 23, 2024
I would not recommend anyone to this American Legion. There are good people however too many bad people running the place that allow bad things to happen to employees and then justify and ignore the complaints.

- Energizing work tasks
Started off like family now I'm treated like the black sheep
Cook (Current Employee) - Saint Augusta, MN - April 3, 2024
It's hard work. I worked harder than most employed there. I picked up everyone's slack. But they don't care about my mental health or the fact I was grieving. I didn't get paid for when I had my maternity leave when I had my child. They treat employees differently. They gossip and make up absurd things about each other. There is some nice members but for the majority of the employees there. They are only nice when they want something from you or you worked hard. But they don't genuinely care especially when it's to cover up whatever they are doing that they shouldn't be. Managers either are drunks or end up quitting. If that doesn't tell you enough than idk what would. They write up one person for something other employees do.
Pros
Free drink afterwork
Cons
Pay for your meal, favoritism, poor management, and

The Integrity of the post and its command!
Lead Bartender/Manager (Former Employee) - San Antonio, TX - March 18, 2024
The diversity of all the members and their demographics and the history of their lives, their legacies were probably the the most greatest "High's" & the "Low's" of working there. It was my honor to server and be their bartender!
Pros
the member & staff
Cons
the passing of members and staff

It was easy to do and without interruptions.
Janitor (Former Employee) - Bolivar, MO - March 12, 2024
What is the best part of working at the company? Didnt have to deal with alot of people, was pretty much there by myself, cleaning the rooms and listening to my earbuds. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? I really did not deal with any kind of stress while working there. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Its a bar so it stinks like cigarettes, alcohol and cleaner. It takes a different mindset to ignore all that and just do your job. What is a typical day like for you at the company? I usually got there at 4:30 in the morning and it only took not quite two hours to clean the place so it was an easy job to do!

Gossip and lower management problems
Patrons are the only thing that kept me there. Co workers are ruthless and will stab you in the back. Lower management wishy washy and will actually scream and try to humiliate some unfavored servers.
Pros
Tips?
Cons
Gossip and backstabbing co-workers and lower management

There is definitely better places to work.
Bartender (Former Employee) - Bellville, OH - January 7, 2024
What is the best part of working at the company? The members that come in. Mostly the ones you see everyday that you form friendships with. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? The canteen manager. He is not a manager. Doesn't like confrontation. Wont answer your text or phone calls if you have an issue. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Not good. Let's a certain employee run over the other employees. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Getting through your shift and hope you don't have any issues because manager ignores your text and phone calls

It is a great place to work to start projects and see them through beginning to end.
Facility Manager (Current Employee) - Sparks, NV - January 4, 2024
What is the best part of working at the company? It is a position where I am the facility manager and utilize my skill set, without drawbacks. What is the most stressful part about working at the company? I manage my time well when things are scheduled properly. The people around me trust what I do with little opposition. What is the work environment and culture like at the company? Everyone volunteers their time. it is a positive outlet for them. What is a typical day like for you at the company? Making everything is on order while bringing in new clients to rent the hall. It deals with a lot of networking and administrative work.

Horrible management
Bartender (Current Employee) - Corona de Tucson, AZ - December 26, 2023
Everyone there is amazing. The manager and assistant manager only have a little experience in a bar. They are easily intimidated by strong bartenders. They agree to not have drama but they are like teenagers . Jealous of compliments given to others. I was told to slow down. Literally. Management has the last word. So play dumb if you want to stay. It’s worth it
Pros
The customers are amazing! No people from off the street, members only. You are protected
Cons
Uneducated and inexperienced management

Amazing job but horribly clueless management
Bartender (Former Employee) - Corona de Tucson, AZ - December 3, 2023
What is the best part of working at the company? The members/customers!! Some staff. They hire unqualified bar management who don’t care about customer service and are intimidated by those who know about the business much more. If the customers love you too much the management will bully you. I can honestly say everything else about this job is amazing. Just that one flaw but I’ve heard management has some turnover What is the most stressful part about working at the company? Being told to “slow down” to even out waiting time for slower bartenders and retaliation from management What is the work environment and culture like at the company? It’s a bit crazy with drama, but again, caused by management. If you are a good bartender and liked by many, customers will tell you management always runs off the good bartenders. What is a typical day like for you at the company? I loved working there. Your regulars customers are there as soon as you open. You have a few chores but mostly making drinks and talking to awesome people

Member/work
Anonymous (Former Employee) - Bangor, MI - November 24, 2023
Many long time members have lost the vision and want it to be a bikers club rather than to help veterans like the organization is supposed to. Low paying with favoritism
