The behavior of Sony's fanboys has been completely messed up in the last year

I wanted to stay silent on the matter because I was scared of those morons, but I can't stand this furthermore, it has to be said.

In the last year, the behavior of several Sony fanboys has gone completely out of control. Here's a list of their sins:

-Sending death threads to Laura Bayley because they hated the character she voiced in the Last of Us Part 2; -Sending death threads to Sony because some of their exclusives came on Steam (Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone) or Xbox (MLB the show); -Sending death threads to Sony because almost all of their next games for a while will be cross-gen (a particular case is the one of Alanah Pearce, which got several death threads because of the matter, like if she has something to do with it only because she joined Santa Monica studio. Cory Balrog, the director of God of War, take her defense, by saying that they should be blamed for the situation); -Attacking an indie developer only because his game is going to the Xbox Game Pass (the game in question is descender).

I thought Nintendo fanboys were the worst but Sony's ones are definitely taking the cake now. I can't stand this situation anymore. THIS HAS TO STOP.

These are the actions of deranged people, they are not fans.

Don’t pretend that this kind of behavior hasn’t been seen from the Xbox fanboys as well. Doesn’t matter the platform, there are just people like this.

And just like Totallycasual said, these are deranged people, not fans.

Blaming this on people being Sony fanboys is like in the 90s when they blamed teenage violence on Marilyn Manson and video nasties. These people are going to act like that, they just need a reason and this is just the reason they do, if they had and Xbox they'd do just the same with that.

This is not a Sony exclusive thing. There were death threats sent to reviewers over not giving Breath of the Wild a perfect score.

These are the actions of children (adult or otherwise) in the era of the internet where actions are unfiltered and unsupervised, and there is no concequence or reprimand for doing it.

On the other shoe, I think that publishers and developers are also weaponizing this to garner sympathy and PR, usually when a game underperforms in the market.

There's always going to be knuckleheads on the internet

Why would you be scared of them?

Because as a non-fan of Sony games in general, lately I've become an easy target of these guys. Unfortunately I see that the non-fans are not their only targets lately...

They can't be considered fans in any way. They're probably mentally ill people who cannot stand anything that goes against their ideas.

There are gonna be elitist assholes in every fanbase. This is an over-generalization, and it kind makes you look inflammatory.

It's not like if I don't have a point thought. The same could be said for Nintendo's fans anyway. Sure 2020 was a disappointing year, but 2019 wasn't and yet they still complained about it, and that led to Nintendo being a fiasco in that year despite their strong lineup.

Fans are really terrible nowadays...

I cant argue with your endpoint.

The Sony fanboy mentality has become as funny as it is concerning

What are death threads?

This reminds me of the Fates from Greek Mythology

How are these in anyway "Sony fanboys"? Seems to me these are a bunch of idiots that hate everything Sony does. They should just move on. No one says you can't agree with something, but sending a death threat is one of the dumbest things you can ever do. If I would ever find out someone in my own life would do stuff like that, I would break contact immediatly. Those people are not stable.

I hope someday everyone that sends a death threat gets identified immediatly. It has become way to easy to send hateful messages and these people can't know how it impacts someone who receives it.

The reason it seems Sony is making a lot of people mad, is because I feel like they are a bit more progressive in some ways. Which also means the people getting mad are usually a bunch of children that haven't been raised right, at least mentally. In other cases like sending threats because a game you like gets released on other platforms, I can't even begin to understand how you could ever be mad about that. And even though you might be mad a game has gone exclusive, it almost always helps the developer and the people working there, even more so in the case of small indie developers. I much rather have them be able to survive with a stable income so their next game might be even better, then have them release something and go broke and never make a game again.

I do also have to say, it is very easy to ignore people like this, at least for us normal people. Just report and move on. Don't try to start a converstation with them and don't give them their time in the spotlight.

It has nothing to do with being a Sony fan, just shitty people doing shitty things.
