Study this record hard before transgressing the law in Australia. It will make you think twice!

Like the movie, this is pretty hard to sit through. And not all that rewarding. Ah well - I was never into prison-films anyway ... but worth it for Nick Cave's contributions, I guess.

The movie script was partially contributed by Cave himself; I doubt his influence in the music has been relative, but I would suggest he chose the dialogue parts (which are 70% of the record to say the least). The rest is instrumental themes (a simple main theme plus few others) set to an ambient-industrial background which was your typical second-stage Bargeld experimenting with creepy atmospheres. The result of this apparently disengaged effort is astonishingly passable and presents some nice points (Pop Mix and Maynard Mix above all), and could as a whole have relative importance as avant-garde material if it were not for the overall laziness one can perceive during most of the listening experience.
