Biography

Edmund James Burke Roche, 5th Baron Fermoy (20 March 1939-19 August 1984) was the son of Edmund Maurice Burke Roche, 4th Baron Fermoy and Ruth Sylvia Gill. He married Lavinia Frances Elizabeth Pitman, daughter of Major John Pitman and Elizabeth Cattanach Donaldson, on 22 June 1964. He suffered from depression and died of a self-inflicted gunshot on 19 August 1984.[1]

Educated at Eton College and Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, Lord Fermoy was Captain in the service of the Royal Horse Guards. He succeeded his father as 5th Baron Fermoy on 8 July 1955.[1]
