Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather
Joseph Williams passed away peacefully on March 4, 2024. He was born in New Bedford Massachusetts. He lived in Brooklyn and settled in Dongan Hills Staten Island.
Joseph is pre-deceased by his wife Gloria (DeGorge) And daughter Judy. He is survived by his sons, Joseph (Joanne) Douglas, Glenn (Judy). He was the loving grandfather to seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Joseph moved to Brooklyn after high school and became a New York City police officer for 27 years. After retiring from the police force Joseph became a union tree trimmer for Con Edison for nearly 10 years. He pruned trees in Staten Island, Brooklyn and Queens.
His favorite activity out of everything else was playing golf. He played every free moment after retiring and was revered as a good golfer. He always accompanied family and friends on yearly golf trips to Myrtle Beach and Florida.
A special thank you to Lavern and Kerry for taking such good care of our dad we were blessed to have you both.
Wake services will be held at Hanley Funeral Home on Thursday, March 7, at 9 a.m. Funeral Mass to follow at Saint Ann's Church at 11 a.m.
