How do I reset the administrator password of my NAS?
Applicable Products
QTS, QuTS hero
Introduction
You can perform a basic system reset which resets the certain settings to their default values and resets the default administrator account "admin". If "admin" was disabled, the system reset will enable it. The password for "admin" is also reset to the default value (see details below). After resetting the system, you will be able to log in using "admin". User data stored on disks is not deleted.
Solution
Use a sharp object such as paperclip or pin and insert it into the hole under the "Reset" sign on the back of your unit. Press and hold the Reset button for 3 seconds to reset the administrator password to the default password. You can feel a tiny click when the button is pressed.
After holding the reset button for 3 seconds, you will hear a beep to let you know the reset has been completed. This resets the following settings to the default values:
Setting | Default Value |
---|---|
Default System Administrator |
|
TCP/IP configuration |
|
System port | 8080 (system service port) |
Security level | Low (allow all connections) |
LCD panel password | (no password) |
VLAN | Disabled |
Service binding | All NAS services can run on all available network interfaces |
