All over ! MI beat CSK for their 100th IPL victory!

CSK's winning run has come to a screeching halt here. Who better than Mumbai Indians - the fellow IPL dominators - to do it. CSK had a lot of things going their way, until the very end of MI's innings when the hosts snatched the game away. CSK ended up conceding 88 off the last six overs - 29 of it from the 20th over itself - and struggled to get going with the bat. Hardik Pandya followed his eight-ball 25 with a fantastic spell of four overs for his 3 for 20.

Chennai will next head home to host Kings XI Punjab on April 6, while Mumbai Indians are heading to Hyderabad to face Sunrisers on the same day.

Malinga strikes!

Jadhav has misread the Sri Lankan's slower one. He has gone for a big swing but the the cutter took an outside edge and went to Quinton de Kock. This game is over now, surely? Deepak Chahar would want to disagree, as he joins Bravo on CSK's mission impossible.

Kedar Jadhav keeping CSK afloat?

He's got to a slow fifty here but only that's kept CSK alive here. He now needs to turn that around and make it meaningful in company of Bravo.

CSK heading towards their first defeat of the season?

Hardik Pandya has struck twice in the same over, removing Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja. There's of course Dwayne Bravo to come but the equation is herculean now, with 82 needed off 32 balls. Dhoni's troubled innings ends on a 21-ball 12 while Jadeja - surprisingly promoted ahead of Bravo - goes for a 1 off 2.

CSK chase is tapering away...

Kedar Jadhav and MS Dhoni have held the innings together but that's as far as they've done. Their chase hasn't moved in the right direction, as the partnership has come at less than run-a-ball. That's quite criminal in a T20, more so when the team is chasing 171. The equation is now down to the holders needing 84 off 36 balls.

Good move, Rohit

Dhoni arrives and in comes Rahul Chahar. He's ripping them at a good pace and even unfurling the odd googlies that have troubled some of the best batsmen in the IPL. Dhoni himself has struggled against the variation so this might be a tricky phase for CSK to negotiate.

That's a Pollard stunner

Jason Beherendorff has the West Indian to thank for his second wicket. He has plucked one out of thin air, and with one hand at that! Raina thought he connected well after clearing his front leg and slapping the short ball towards the off-side fence. But Pollard at sweeper cover leapt with one hand in the air and pouched it. Exceptional stuff! CSK are down by three but the crowd cheer vociferously as Dhoni walks out to bat.

Mumbai bowlers come out firing

The hosts have come out firing in their defence of 170. Jason Behrendorff, on IPL debut, delivers an absolute jaffa to snare Ambati Rayudu for a golden duck. The ball kicked up from a good length, taking an unsuspecting Rayudu by surprise. He was lazily poking at the delivery that was angled away, only to find it climb sharply and brush his gloves through to de Kock. Malinga's start, although not auspicious with a no-ball first up, led to the wicket of Watson. All it took was a short, wide ball that Watson mistimed to point. It's 6/2 with Mumbai's tail up.

What a final over!

Dwayne Bravo has been whacked for 29 - YES, you read that right! - runs off the final over. Hardik Pandya has played an absolute peach here with an eight-ball 25 while Pollard kept him company with a seven-ball 17. This is a fabulous turnaround from MI as they've belted at nearly 15 an over in the last six! Yes, you've read that right too. They had 82/3 in 14 overs and now finish with 170/5 in 20! They might still be about 10 short for this wicket but they'll be buoyed by that finish and might begin their defence of the total with a spring or two in their step. CSK have a task on their hands to protect their winning streak.

150 in sight?

After Suryakumar Yadav's exit, Hardik Pandya - and Kieron Pollard to an extent - have put MI on course for a 150? They've taken 16 off Shardul Thakur's over in the 19th. Can they tonk around Bravo too and get more than they'd have expected say, at the halfway stage?

Suryakumar Yadav gets a fifty...

He'd be delighted to have broken away from the dud-of-a-start he's had to this season. MI will be glad too, as he's rescued and revived the team on a day when they've struggled with the bat. Now if Hardik Pandya can tee off in the last three overs, we might have a good second half on the hands.

MI - 93/3 in 15 overs

Krunal gets the first six of the game but MI only have 93/3 in 15 overs. This has been a slow-burner-of-an-innings so far, but is there a sudden burst left in it? We'll have to wait and watch.

Saved by the snicko...

CSK thought they had Krunal Pandya plumb in front of the stumps. The umpire thought that too but the left-hander reviewed and earned his reprieve. Replays showed the ball went off quite a thick inside edge. Small joy for a side in desperate need of a lift here. MI 79/3 in 13.2 overs

Dew or butter-fingers?

Mohit Sharma has put down a regulation chance to send Krunal Pandya back. And right after there's a fumble in the ground fielding. Is dew starting to take shape or is it just poor fielding? MI will take either, at this moment.

MI - 57/3 in 10 overs

CSK have pulled things back exceptionally after a very brief MI domination - perhaps worth those two PowerPlay overs that fetched them 30 runs. From 40/1 in 6 overs, they've gone to 57/3 in 10. Lot of work to do for Suryakumar Yadav - you could say he'd not like it any other way considering his slow start to the season. There's also the Pandya brothers, one of which is already in the middle and got off the mark with a reverse sweep for a four. Ominous signs? MI would surely hope so.

MI struggling...

MI's 5-3 home record against CSK is in danger of dwarfing. Yuvraj Singh went for a big heave, like he did against - a typical, hollywood heave - but Rayudu did very well with a catch while keeping his feet inside the field of play. MI are three down for 50 and Imran Tahir has a wicket.

Another off-day for Rohit Sharma

Ravindra Jadeja arrives and strikes first ball. Rohit Sharma chased after a tossed up ball on the off-stump and ended up faintly nicking it to MS Dhoni. He stood his ground for a bit but there was an assuredness to Dhoni's celebration and out went the MI skipper for an 18-ball 13. His walk back was halted to check if Jadeja had made a foot fault, but that wasn't the case. MI are down to 45/2 in the eighth over.

Mohit Sharma brings a bit of calm to the sudden harakiri in the PowerPlay. He bowls five dots and keeps MI down to 40 after the the PowerPlay.

Boundary, boundary everywhere...

True test of CSK's bowling might is right here, right now. Wankhede has a lightning fast outfield and Suryakumar is reaping benefits. He also has Deepak Chahar to thank for, who has erred in line and length in the fifth over.A 16-run over is followed by a 14-run one, as Suryakumar settles in.

Three fours and there's life in IPL 'El Clasico' - CSK called it that. Shardul Thakur has given Suryakumar a chance to quickly get his eye with generous over-pitched stuff. He cracks two boundaries, and then Rohit carves one through the off-side when he's offered width - never do that snarls Greame Smith on commentary, and he's right. MI 25/1 in 4 overs.

Another early wicket for CSK. Quinton de Kock has perished trying to get a move on here. He loves playing that pull short over the mid-wicket, doesn't he? But this time he didn't really get the middle of his bat on the ball and ended up hitting to Kedar Jadhav at square leg. You could wager the pressure was on after the first ball of Chahar's second over nearly had the left-hander playing the ball onto the stumps. Fantastic start for CSK, and a chance for Suryakumar Yadav to dust off some early season slumber.

MI's snail start

Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur have started with a cluster of dot balls and just three runs between them. In the process, they've also made both Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock like they were in the middle of the morning session in a Jo'burg Test. They've been beaten, squared up and even made to chase after a wide sucker ball. They've survived but not very convincingly. Seems like the pitch has something for the quicks early on.

-Rahul Chahar has been afforded the chance to make his MI debut in a game which will feature his brother in the opposition. He comes in as a like-for-like legbreak replacement for Markande and might just have a bit of an 'unknown factor' feel to him. He was picked up for INR 80 lakh by CSK in last year's auction - fighting off competition from KXIP and DC.

- IPL and MI debut for left-arm fast bowler Jason Beherendorff. He was picked up for INR 1.50 crore in last year's auction but finally gets a game now, in place of New Zealander Mitchell McClenaghan. Beherendorff comes armed with the ability to swing the ball, and has featured in seven T20Is for Australia - picking seven wickets at an economy rate of 7.31.
