A hidden gem in Warner Robins
The Air Force aviation Museum in Warner Robins is the second largest in the country. It is also free admission. In addition to the large display of planes, helicopters, and also drones there is a ride that while you have to pay $10 per person is really enjoyable. It’s well worth your time to stop by and check it out. My wife and I spent a few hours there and we were glad we took the time to visit.
Thank you for leaving this great review and the rating! We are glad you enjoyed your visit with us and hope you come again!

    Hidden Gem of Aviation History
A hidden gem! Comparable to larger museums we have visited in terms of history and real airplanes that span from WWII through modern times. Fantastic Docents in every building as well who flew and worked on the planes. Top 5 aviation museum 2nd only to Wright-Patterson and Washington DC
Thank you for your rating and review! We are glad you enjoyed your visit with us and hope you'll come back down to WR and visit again in the future!

A must stop for plane enthusiasts and their partners
This was a side trip from Atlanta to Florida and one we are so happy we took. The volunteers are wonderful, helpful and so friendly in every one of the FOUR buildings full of planes! We were shocked to find it a free museum and gave a donation likely more than an admission would have been due to it being free for all. What a great place experience for all. Buildings were clean and easy to navigate, benches available to rest between buildings. Gorgeous amphitheater with all the state flags around it. We had great weather which made the time outside fabulous too. The quantity of planes etc is incredible. We could have spent many hours exploring it all.

Amazing find! We spent the night in Warner Robins on our way from Florida to Ohio. When we saw a sign for this museum , we decided to make the 8 mile drive out there. Boy, are we glad we did! This museum is chock full of the 2nd largest collection of Air Force planes and equipment in the country (largest collection is at Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton). You can spend hours walking through the numerous buildings and walking or driving through their outdoor paved path woven around a dozen plus more planes around the perimeter of the campus. Their meticulously restored aircraft are a sight to see. They have interactive opportunities to climb in cockpits and a helicopter. And the best part - the volunteers - all former military. We got to meet Pat Walrath who served 26 years in the Marines and Air Force including Vietnam. He was so interesting to talk with and shared firsthand stories about some of the aircraft in the building.

This is a great place for families, couples, military or history buffs. Plenty of free parking and large covered picnic facilities.

Admission is free. Donations are encouraged. Please take some time to check this place out. You won’t be sorry!

I am from the UK and was doing a road trip to New England with a friend from Tampa.
We called at Warner Robins air museum on Monday 20 June only to find it closed.
No sign of anyone and phones not answered.
I've been to Wright-Patterson several times and many other air museums in the US.
Eventually found out it was something called Juneteenth which is a federal holiday.
Why on Earth close a national museum on a holiday which is just when potential visitors are looking for something to do?
OK, admission is free but there would be catering and gifts to make money from.
Very disappointed.

John, we are sorry about your experience with our doors being closed on July 4th. We would have loved to have been open, but are now operating as closed on all federal holidays. We really hope you'll stop by for a visit another time. Our hours are Mondays-Saturdays 9am-4pm. We are closed on Sundays and again, all federal holidays. Thanks

If you are on the fence about visiting this museum, GO! It is an amazing experience. The aircraft are displayed different ways (not just lined up in a row side by side) and there are so many other historical exhibits (the Korean War, the Hump, D-Day, the AVG, Tuskegee Airmen, WASPs, etc.). I spent the entire day there, but I read a lot and watched a lot of the videos that were playing). Admission is free, parking is free (and there is plenty of it) so there really is no excuse not to go. A few things I noticed...there is no food or restaurant on the premises. There is one vending machine with candy and chips (that I couldn't get to work) and the soda machine was out of water. However, there are beverages available for purchase in the gift shop which is in the main building. There are no other concessions available in any of the other buildings. There is a neat little restaurant about .2 miles from the museum that is close and convenient (The Taco Shop). There are also plenty of picnic areas that are covered. The other things is that you can actually drive around and see the aircraft that are outside. There is a road from which you can see every aircraft. After seeing everything in the four buildings on foot, driving around the outside aircraft saves some steps (I did drive around after I walked outside and read all the plaques). There is also a parking lot in the middle of the campus so after seeing the first two buildings in the front, you can drive to the back and park there to see the other two buildings and the outside aircraft. The restrooms are big and clean. It's nice to see most of their aircraft in a climate-controlled environment. If you have any interest in history or aviation whatsoever, please go to this museum. You will not be disappointed!!

If you are interested in aviation and military aircraft this is a must see. There is no charge to visit, and you are free to wander through the four buildings and the grounds at your leisure. Be sure to allow plenty of time to explore one of the largest museums of its kind in the United States.

Our family with young children spent a morning here and had a nice time. The museum has four good sized buildings with lots of aircraft as well as several aircraft outdoors. It’s easy to access and easy to get around, and the staff is very friendly.

This is a great museum with a lot of aviation history, and a lot of actual aircraft you can get close to, and even in the cockpit. It's a huge facility so block out a few hours especially if you have kids. They also have a picnic area and playground outside.

The museum has four buildings, one of which is mostly exhibits. The others three are hangers full of planes. There are also planes parked outside. So there is a lot for the aviation / military enthusiast to see.

It was not quite as interesting as the Air and Space Museum in Washington DC or the Cradle of Aviation on Long Island in NY, mostly because the exhibition methods here are pretty old school, but it was definitely worth a stop in our road trip.

It is free other than a donation that you can make or not, and the virtual reality experience which is $10 pp. (We did the Apollo 11 one and enjoyed it.)

One could spend a day touring this site. Three buildings with displays, plus acres of out side displays.
WWII, Korea, Cold War and current craft including drones.
I especially enjoyed to seeing the two craft my father flew- B-29 and B-52.

As the only "Class B" Air Force museum on the East coast, it is second only to the National Museum of the USAF in Dayton, OH. There are not only aircraft from every era, but two levels of inside displays covering the history of the Air Force and Warner Robins.
I only rated it four stars because it doesn't update it's displays much. Looked much as I remember it from a visit 15 years ago. That said, what they do have is Excellent.
