I got to know John and his fabulous band (including acclaimed, world-reknown bassist Kenny Aaronson and guitar slinger extraordinaire P.K. Lavengood) from their live shows before i bought this CD. Flat-out...John is a fantastic performer and songwriter. Apparently, i'm not the only one who thinks so...as song number 5..."Lowlife" also appears on Kid Rocks latest effort..."Rock and Roll Jesus". This CD also contains more Big names...with drummer Kenny Aranoff and Tom "T-Bone" Wolk (R.I.P.) appearing. Wolk both produces a track and plays bass on a track. There are so many hooks on this album...i'm still trying to figure out which song is my favorite. John has been compared to fellow-Jerseyite Springsteen...and it comes both honest and well-deserved. But the tunes are so much John Eddie that there is really no "cookie-cutter" comparison to Springsteen...but rather a similar artist feel. It's definitely all John Eddie. If you enjoy good, honest music that brings out feelings that you both...haven't felt in a while and had just an hour ago...this is up your alley. You can't go wrong with this CD. But songs like "Sh*thole Bar" and "Forty" are not for the meek...but display Johns avid sense of humor (whom John credits in the liner noted to his mother). IMO...this CD is a winner.Read full review
I have no idea why John Eddie didn't make it to Bruce Springsteen's status. He's another Jersey Rocker with a great voice and clever lyrics, a truly gifted and funny thought provoking story teller. This cd is a must for any collection. I had the pleasure of meeting John several years ago and what a class act he is as well. I bought this cd for a friend of mine who really loved it. Kid Rock has done a cover of his song "Low Life" and John is well known and respected in the industry. He just finished a long stint in Vegas. Buy this cd, you will not be disappointed.
Great selection of songs , 2 bonus tracks
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
This is a wonderful disc! Three AOR top 20 songs...If You're Here When I Get Back, Everything, and Let Me Down Hard. You should buy it just to hear Forty and Play Some Skynyrd. This guy is one hell of a songwriter and performer!
This CD is great. There are only a couple songs I didn't like as much as all the others. Jesus is Coming and Forty are very good. Buy it-you won't be disappointed!
