This beach was so pretty and worth the walk from the parking area. Parking area does get very crowded. We had to park up the road a bit.

I almost didn't stop by this beach but the Boathouse lured me in. So glad I decided to take a chance. The beach is lovely for sea glass hunting if you are so included. It's not as sandy as a few of the other beaches, but it's certainly a good one to walk and seems to draw the attraction of pet lovers. Make sure you plan your stop for lunch or dinner to enjoy the Boathouse. The view is perfect and that Ahi Club is out of this world delicious.

I was amazed at how warm the water was for November-and how nice the beach was since it allows dogs. It is a beautiful beach.

About once a week, we local SBers find our way to Arroyo Burro, aka Hendry's after the family that farmed here long ago. 1. Sand beach walking -- with or without dogs. An ordinance restricts dogs from the west side of the south-facing beach and encourages them on the east,
2. At the foot of the palisades - so there are beautiful photos to take and/or views to enjoy.
3. Excellent walkway and bench seating -- just drive up and watch the ocean. Don't even need to get sandy.
4. OK restaurant for eating while one watches the ocean.
5. Mostly convenient parking, except at busiest times.
The view of the islands and the University in the distance is excellent.

It's the perfect spot to watch the sunset when in Santa Barbara. There's terrific vistas and the Boathouse for sundowners, but the parking requires patience.

Whenever I'm in Santa Barbara, I hang out as often as possible at this beach (also known to some as Hendry's Beach because Hendry's Boat House Restaurant is located there). The free parking can fill up quickly, depending on the time of year. Locals will bring their dog to the off-leash beach dog park. Tourists and locals alike gather at the end of each day to watch the sunset. I rarely find the beach inaccessible due to the tides. And, at the end of your walk, there's the bar at the boathouse!

In the winter with the minus tides, this is a great place to see the sea life and enjoy a south cost beach. We were there on a clear winter eve when the sun set with the fabled green flash! Everyone gasped!

Not only is this beach dog friendly, but it is the most scenic beach in Santa Barbara. Ample parking, with a popular restaurant on the property. While you're here be sure to Google "Douglas Family Preserve" which is close by and a "social event for dogs"!
