A year after writer-producer-director Timothy Scott Bogart, TV producer Gary A. Randall and songwriter and music publisher Evan “Kidd” Bogart launched Boardwalk Entertainment Group, the media company has built up its first TV slate. Boardwalk Television is one of five divisions of the privately funded Boardwalk Entertainment Group, along with Boardwalk Films, Boardwalk Records, Boardwalk Publishing and Boardwalk Technology. Led by Randall and Timothy Bogart, Boardwalk TV has set up seven projects in broadcast and cable. The two have been assisted by Randall’s daughter, development executive Madison Randall, who joined Boardwalk as Director of Creative Affairs. The company has first-look deals with ABC Studios for broadcast and Fox TV Studios for cable scripted series. The pact with FtvS stems from Gary Randall’s long-standing relationship with the studio, where he executive produces the A&E series The Glades. “We’ve had a really prolific development season,” Randall said.
Through ABC Studios, Boardwalk has sold two drama projects co-created by Randall and Bogart and written by Bogart: Life Happens! to ABC, about families bonding over their kids’ friendship; and legal drama Opposing Counsel to NBC. “This past year has been about continuing to set infrastructure and deals for the company but also about the joy of me being a writer-creator,” Bogart said. “For Gary and I to be able to create projects at ABC and NBC as partners of the company we’re launching is exciting, and to be able to do it for other writers through the partnership is unbelievable.” Those other writers include Jason Ning (90210), who is writing drama Legacy for Fox and ABC Studios, about cop families on the two sides of the U.S.-Mexico border; and Tony Spiridakis (De Loba), who is penning The Reeds, about a family band, for the CW and CBS TV Studios, which stepped in as ABC Studios does not produce for the CW.
In cable, Boardwalk has half-hour comedy Bounty Boys at USA/FtvS with writers Pete Tibbals & Eric Goldberg (iCarly), about a duo of unlikely bounty hunters. The five projects join previously announced 400 at E!, a period drama about New York’s famous Vanderbilt family; as well as drama The Break at Fox. On the film side, Bogart just completed the script for the Justin Timberlake-starring Spinning Gold, about Casablanca Records co-founder Neil Bogart. Here are details about Boardwalk’s TV projects:
