Wow what a messed up disturbing film. It's difficult to come across disturbing films like this that are that disturbing but also good. It was a very good story and just shockingly good. I don't want to give anything away, except if you like horror films and are looking for something a bit gory but with a good story to go with it give this a watch.

I love horror movies, but this one is pretty disturbing. Not in a scary way, but more so in a twisted way. Mum and Dad are not your average parents and you'll see why. Would I watch it again? No. It was disturbing and sadly there are people on this planet who probably have the mentality that these parents had. It's no laughing matter and to think people might actually think this way is why I feel it's disturbing. But, if you like that kind of thing then this movie might be right down your alley. There's not a lot of gore in this film, it's more of a psychological story. The characters did a nice job and kept my interest even though it was strange. Do not watch this around children, please!

In the extras on this disc the producer says that this movie was made for less than $200,000 and in a very short amount of time (I think he said they shot it in a week). If you like movies like Hostel, then you will probably like this movie. It has graphic violence and gross special effects. If you buy movies like this looking for a dominant personalty to completely subjegate another person and break their will, then this movie isn't for you. The girls will is never really broken. Which is apparent in how the movie ends.

WOW!!! What a movie! I initially thought it was going to be some cheesy "dark humor" flick but I was way off. This is horror at it's finest. I would put this movie in a category with Hostel, Human Centipede 2, Mothers Day, High Tension and such, what some call "torture porn.", Everything in this movie was relevant to further the plot idea, the gore wasn't just gratuitous. There was plenty of gore, and cringe worthy scenes, great acting, great plot, great script, great direction all making a great horror movie.

This is one nasty horror movie, but stay away from this German bluray. It's cut for sure, they cut a few minutes out. One scene that was very shocking has been completely removed. The picture looks pretty good, has the same extras as the USA dvd too. I'd recommend the USA dvd though, it's Uncut and the complete version.

"Mum and Dad", a British horror release in 2008, is a nice little terror nugget. All I can say is...you definitely don't want to go to mum and dad's house. Eery, graphic, a psycho thriller to the end. This one is definitely not for the squeamish...we're dealing with deranged whole grain freaks in this one. Though I've seen similar films with similar plots, this one is done quite well...worthy of all 5 stars. Kudos to Director Steven Shiel...please continue to produce this type of horror gem!

Arrived on time mediocre DVD packaging. This movie is pretty gory and violent. One of the most depraved British torture/horror movies Ive ever bought. I thought the acting was pretty good. A real nail bitter. If your into gory depraved British films this is a MUST. I thought the actors who playd Mum and Dad did a great job as well as the main character/victim. If you have a strong stomach watch this sleeper horror film must see.

This is a disgusting movie. There is no drama, no suspense, just scene after scene of a young woman being tortured nearly to death. Not only is the woman kept a prisoner, but we find there are other prisoners who have, likewise, been tortured. And this is not, as one viewer called it, a revenge flick. Yes, the woman kills three of the four family members, but she only does it trying to escape.
If you like nonstop graphic violence, scenes of a woman being sliced and diced, stabbed, and beaten, then this is the flick for you. And if you do you need psychiatric help. Seriously.

!WARNING!CONTAINS SPOILERS!
Lena(Olga Fedori) is a young Polish woman working as a cleaner at Heathrow Airport. She is befriended by another cleaner Birdie(Ainsley Howard) who in turn introduces Lena to her brother Elbie(Toby Alexander). One night, Lena misses the bus home, and Birdie offers to help, telling Lena she can stay the night at her place, as its only a stones throw from the airport runway. The three friends all go to the house, and Lena is left alone inside. She goes looking for Birdie and is hit on the back of the head. When Lena comes to she comes face to face with Mum(Dido Miles) and Dad(Perry Benson). Whether she likes it or not, Lena is now part of the family, and she knows that if she breaks the house rules, she gets a one to one audience with Dad, who as Mum says 'has his ways'.
Although director Steven Sheil cites Pete Walker's Frightmare and Dario Argento as influences, this film in my opinion is more reminiscant of gritty American horrors such as John Mcnaughton's Henry:Portrait Of A Serial Killer and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre series. It does have a unique Britishness about it though, especially in the twisted Christmas scenes. The acting is all top drawer. Perry Benson IS Dad. From the moment we are introduced to the character, Benson makes the role of Dad his own, and gives a superb performance. The rest of the cast are also excellent. There is no background music to sooth the senses, so the viewer has to fully concentrate on the catalogue of horrors put before them. Interestingly enough, its not particularly gory as most of the atrocities are commited off-screen, but like Henry the tone and style does make it an uncomfortable viewing experience. The characters motivations are left deliberatly cloudy, as is the origin of Birdie and Elbie. Are they Mum and Dad's own children, or have they at some point been imprisoned and indoctrinated themselves.
A lot has been made of the similarities between certain aspects of the film, and the real life exploits of serial killers Fred and Rosemary West. I think its important to remember that the director's main goal was to make a low budget British horror film, with a very tight budget and shooting schedule. Considering these restrictions, I think Sheil has created a low budget masterpiece, that I hope will increase in stature just as Frightmare has, thirty plus years later. Highly recommended to lovers of British horror, which is a very diverse church, and low budget horror in general. An unreserved 5 out of 5. Nice extras on the DVD as well.

I Saw Hostel II

“It’s our fault. We’ll help you out...” [Birdie]

This 2008 torture horror [aka House massacre], Lena (Olga Fedori) is a Polish immigrant working as a cleaner at Heathrow Airport. Striking up a friendship with co-worker Birdie (Ainsley Howard) Lena misses her bus so Birdie tells her that her dad will drive Lena home if they walk to Birdie's house. But things immediately go wrong and Lena realises she’s in terrible danger as she’s invited to be part of the family.
This is British horror at its most sinister taking a simple situation and instantly getting under the grubby skin of society and throwing nasty topics straight in you face, but this doesn’t simply rely on gore. Much of the action/horror plays on the imagination which adds to the tension as you’re taken in one direction only to be jerked back in another. The dialogue is simple, but frighteningly effective and the story is as grubby as the surroundings.
The single disc opens to main menu offering play, scene selection and special features [commentary, 2 interviews, Q&A session, behind scenes, trailer and a short film]. Filmed on a measly £100,000 budget, it shows what can be achieved. Full of deeply disturbing, gross scenes, the sado/masochism all comes across with an uncomfortable ‘routine’ feel to it. Definitely not for the squeamish or feint of heart, this will upset more than it will please, but if you want a horror that will stay with you, this will probable be it. Christmas will never be the same after watching this.
