We travel to Thailand next Friday and I was planning on taking sterling travellers cheques for my curreny, however as most money exchanges in the UK charge a commission on sterling TC's we have decided to take our HSBC debit cards to use at ATM's instead.
I have already contacted HSBC and notified them of my dates of travel, they have also confirmed the only charge I will incur is a 1% fee (max £5) for each transaction (excluding the 150 baht ATM charge in Thailand).
Has anyone used their HSBC card in Thailand before, if so did you have any problems?? Would you recommend this method for accessing our currency?
5 nights and counting!!!
