after an awful accident in which her parents were killed, oli runs from her own bonds. though it pains her to do, she’s sure this is the only way to save them. after five years on the run, however, she’s captured and returned to them. while they may never forgive her, oli’s more concerned with their safety.

i decided to dip my toes into the world of fated mates with this book, and i think it was a great place to start. i was really interested in the magic system in this book. honestly, i wasn’t expecting this book to be quite so plot-heavy🫣 but that’s more than okay since it made the book more interesting.

as for the characters, there was a mix of interesting personalities. some were downright awful, but a lot were more complicated than that. the main character herself had an interesting story and i can see why she made some decisions she did.

i’m very eager to see where the story goes in book two!
