Jason Patric - who replaced Keanu Reeves in Speed 2 - played Michael, who is best known for disturbing drama Sleepers.
Kiefer Sutherland as David
The Lost Boys is the movie that made Kiefer Sutherland a movie star, with the actor playing vampire leader David. The character seems especially obsessed with turning Michael, with some critics taking a homoerotic reading of their relationship. Sutherland's other famous roles in include 24's Jack Bauer and the Young Guns movies.
Corey Haim as Sam
The late Corey Haim (Dream A Little Dream) stars as Michael's young brother Sam in The Lost Boys. He's initially unhappy about the Santa Carla move but befriends the Frog brothers at the local comic book store. Sam later helps Michael after he's been turned into a vampire against the titular clan.
Dianne Wiest as Lucy Emerson

Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander (Bone Tomahawk) star as The Lost Boys Frog Brothers Edger and Alan, the macho teenagers who work at the local comic shop. They're the first to warn Sam of the vampire threat and help the Emersons fight back. For Edger, Feldman played the role like young Rambo and the actor is also known for Stephen King's favorite adaptation of his own work Stand By Me.
Jami Gertz as Star
The Lost Boys' Star is played by Jami Gertz. Star is the apparent girlfriend of David and a half-vampire. Its Michael's attraction to Star that leads him to the group, and the two fall in love during the story. Gertz later reteamed with Sutherland on 1989's Renegades and played a major role in Bret Easton Ellis adaptation Less Than Zero.
Edward Herrmann as Max
The Lost Boys' secret villain is Max, who employs Lucy at the local VHS store. He appears to be a kind-hearted businessman but is later revealed to have created the titular gang, and wanted Lucy to become a mother of sorts to his "boys." The late Edward Herrmann was also known for his roles in The Gilmore Girls and Richie Rich.
