Sub41 Bl vs New GMT II Gr/Bl

Dear friends!
My previous watches - Rolex OP39 Black and DJ36 SS White. Now I really miss Rolex, so I decided to choose something.
I am wearing suits 90% of time. Thinking about one of these models as daily driver
1) Sub41 Black
2) New GMT II Gr/Bl on Jubilee

Help, please, with arguments in favor of one or the other option as daily driver. Or maybe I should pay attention to some other Rolex model.
Many thanks!

Personally, I don’t think either of those watches are predominantly for wearing with suits. The GMT on jubilee will be dressier, so I suppose that one.

I think the GMT on Jubliee or PCL Oyster would look better with a suit. Cant go wrong either way though.

I’d look at a DJ if I wore a lot of suits

As Cru said, the GMT will be dressier on a jubilee but I wouldn’t think of it as a watch I’d wear mostly with suits.

Between the two mentioned, GMT for sure on jubilee. But sounds like the DJ would be more of a suit watch. But, it does not matter, you do you and enjoy.

Between the two, I would recommend the GMT on Jubilee. Jubilee sits better on the wrist, is both dressy and sporty and is functional.

I have both of those. If I were in your shoes, Id probably lean towards the Submariner (believe it or not).

I have never really understood this restrictive approach with a particular type of Rolex model to match a suit. I've seen GMTs, subs, OPs, DJs, and Daytonas with suits and all looked tlgood to me.

The watch doesn't ruin a suit look imo, and in fact often acts as a style statement - goes for any watch not just Rolex.

OP, which watch do you like more? Which one wears more comfortable? Get that one, and laugh it off if someone says it's not dressy enough for a suit, life is just too short. The coolest cats I know have never let other people tell them what they should wear.

For a daily driver I would go with a Sub Date 41.

I agree. 100%

There are high flying executives and elites everywhere on the planet that wear a Rolex with a suite.

Were supposed to think thats inappropriate because a couple of watch snobs on the internet say so? Yeah, I do t think so.

A diver with a suit doesn't work for me. It's like wearing sneakers with a suit. Between the two, GMT on jubilee. However, I'd wear a proper dress watch, personally (VC, PP, ALS, JLC).

I don't think either should be worn with a suit. I would get a DJ or DD.

Honestly, you could wear either watch as a daily driver and wearing a suit. Ive worn my old Submariner (14060, 2-liner, black dial) with suits, blazers, jeans, and even at a very formal top hat and tails wedding in England years ago. Nobody has ever noticed or made a comment, and if they had done...to hell with them! Wear the watch YOU want to wear and enjoy it! Good luck getting one!

Get a dress watch if you wear suits. You gotta complete the look.

Many thanks for all suggestions. And what do you think about new Explorer 40? Too simple for wearing with suits?

Get the GMT because of the PCL Oyster. After 1 year, start to realise, hmm maybe too much bling. Get the Sub. After 3 years, hmm what I really should have gotten was a proper dress watch. Ooops the dress watch that you really want all cost north of USD 30k. Oh sorry I got carried away started writing about my personal experience.

The Submariner is my favorite watch. The GMT is my second favorite watch. Both are keepers.

I would happily wear a GMT, Sub or Explorer with a suit.

If youre going to get a Rolex, dont settle, go all the way. Get the Sub or GMT.

For me, the biggest problem with a proper dress watch is that the one I really like costs $35,000. (ALS 1815 UP/DOWN White gold). Once we get to $20,000 or below, there are very few and far between that I actually like. Cartier Tanks and JLC Reversos dont do it for me. At that point, Id just get a Nomos Tangente and still get the Submariner, too.

This. Except for the 30k part.

I guess Im a watch snob now.
