9 Craft Ideas To Do With Girl Coloring Pages
Here are nine fun, cheap/free, and creative craft ideas you can do with your completed coloring pages!
9. Paper Dolls
A cute craft that you can do with girl coloring pages is making paper dolls out of the illustrations on different sheets.
Find full-length figures for your child’s favorite characters, whether it’s Elsa from Frozen or Princess Peach from Mario, and have them color them in.
Then, you can glue poster board to the back of the page (to reinforce the otherwise flimsy paper) and cut out the figures from the sheet.
Then, let their imagination take over! This is a great way to pass a rainy afternoon or a fun craft for a sleepover.
8. Magnets
For an adorable craft that only requires a few different tools of the trade, try making magnets out of my girl coloring pages.
You’ll need some magnets, of course, plus clear flat-bottomed stones (which you can find at any dollar store), Mod Podge, as well as a hot glue gun (which you can also find at dollar stores!).
Have the little girls color in the illustrations of their choice (I recommend the sunflowers, toads, dolphins, or turtles).
Then, using the glass stones, trace circles around the parts of the illustration you want to make magnets out of.
Carefully cut out the circle and paste it, face up, using the Mod Podge, onto the bottom of the glass stone.
Then, once it’s dry, take your hot glue gun (or Gorilla glue, if you don’t have a hot glue gun) and affix the magnet to the bottom of the stone, i.e., the back of the little paper circle.
Let it dry for a few hours overnight, and you have the perfect adornment for any fridge!
7. Phone Case Decorations
Get an inexpensive phone case that fits their cellphone model and center it where you’d like the illustration to go (this can also make a great gift).
Have your daughter/students color in the space that has been outlined and then cut out along the outline.
Then, you’re going to use Mod Podge and a foam brush to “glue” the cut-out illustration into the phone case (or you can do it on the outside of the case).
You might want to do a few layers of Mod Podge for a tight and secure fit.
Let it dry completely, and put the phone into the case. You can do this for multiple cases, so the girls can swap them out as they like.
6. Bookmarks
Another craft that you can do with my girl coloring pages is making bookmarks.
Using the illustration of your daughter’s choice, draw the outline of the bookmark directly onto the illustration – it can be any size, but a long rectangle shape is best.
If you want, you can center the shape over a cross, or a character, like Elsa.
Then have the children color in within the outline and cut out the along the lines.
You’ll want to reinforce the printer paper with some posterboard or cardstock, cut to shape, and glue to the back.
Then, you’ll punch a hole near the top and string ribbon or yard through for the finishing touch.
5. Fashions
You can create t-shirts, hoodies, canvas bags, or even shoe designs using my coloring pages, though you will need a Cricut machine.
You’ll print the coloring page of choice onto an iron-on vinyl sheet and then feed it into the Cricut machine to cut perfectly.
Once the Cricut machine has done its magic, you can then strip the character or design off the sheet and place it on your garment of choice.
Iron it on or press it; either way, your little girl has a cool new t-shirt, hoodie, or bag that is also homemade.
4. Keychains
For this craft, you’ll need shrinking sheets, keychain rings and a hole punch (plus an oven), and, of course, some of the above coloring pages.
You’re going to print the coloring page onto the shrinking sheets and have your girls color in like usual.
Then, you’ll cut out the figure or shape you want and punch a hole at the top for later.
Put it on a tray and bake it for the amount of time given in the instructions (will vary, based on which shrink sheets you get).
Allow to cool, and then attach the keychain rings to the hole you punched. These can make for great goodies for gift bags at a girl’s birthday party or a simple gift!
3. Decorative Trays
This craft is great for the above girls’ coloring pages because, if the tray is large enough, it uses up the whole sheet.
Have your girls color in the illustration of their choice and then Mod Podge it onto the tray.
Allow to dry for a few hours overnight, and you have a tray perfect for tea parties!
2. Greeting Cards
For this craft, you’ll have to choose your coloring page of choice and then shrink it down using computer software to a fourth of the size.
Place the illustration in the lower-right corner of the page. Print it off and then fold the paper in half, then in half again, so that the illustration is on the front page.
Have your girls color it in and write a special message on the inside for the recipient.
1. Journal Covers
You can find plain journal-size notebooks at the dollar store; you’ll want to shrink the illustration of choice to fit the cover.
Instruct the girls to color in the page and then glue it to the front of the journal cover.
It’s an adorable handmade keepsake where your little one can write all her thoughts.
