Conférence : Biarritz et le Paysage : TOME 1 - LE PAYSAGE, SOURCE DU STYLE PITTORESQUE
  • On 30 may 2024
  • Musée Historique de Biarritz, Rue Broquedis
  • Conference organized by the Musée Historique de Biarritz, led by art historian Jean Loup Ménochet. - In the first seaside resorts, settlers appropriated space. In this "territory of emptiness", they built a new world in which landscape played a major role. Resorts were first and foremost an expression of the Romantic movement, which took nature as its architectural inspiration, but also an outspoken protest against an urbanized, artificial world. To develop these sites, investors, elected officials, architects and doctors took advantage of the natural landscape to design a new one, sometimes surprising, often flashy ? - This first lecture in a series devoted to the Biarritz landscape explores the "picturesque" architectural movement, little-known and little-regarded by historians, although emblematic of holiday resorts.

A series of funny sketches, a revisiting of emblematic songs about school and a dance section denouncing school harassment make for a sparkling and surprising show ! Students from sixième to troisième rehearsed every week between noon and two in order to be able to perform on the stage of a beautiful theater : the Colisée in Biarritz ! This project required a huge investment and many hours of work. A tireless volunteer, she finds it fundamental to support young people and share their love of the performing arts.
