This album is his best, in my opinion.
Once I heard "La mer m'a donné" on the radio, I had to get it, and I kinda fell in love with this voice and his poetry. All is so great, the instrumentation (Xylophone in "La mer m'a donné"!!!!!!!!! Yeah!!!), the melodies, and the background singers are doing such a great job as well.
I can just close my eyes and drift away on the clouds, or waves.
My favourite Moustaki-song of all times (you guessed it: La mer m'a donné) is usually never included in Hit compilations. Why not? Because it was only the B-side of the single back in the day?
If some people buy a compilation to get to know an artist, they should hear the best songs, not just the best charts hits (or so). If a B-side is his best song, it must be found on "Best of" CDs (this is a hint to record company dudes who might read here also...)
My personal advice: Instead of buying any of the countless "Greatest", "Best of" etc compilations, GET THIS ALBUM INSTEAD!!!!! I mean it! This album contains (in my humble opinion) his best work, and if you like this, THEN continue to buy other albums.
But don't waste your time and money on the stupid compilations they are throwing out twice a year!
