I listen to XM Radio in the truck a lot. I listen to a lot of bluegrass music. Just as they have done with country music over the years, they now call anything bluegrass today. I am so tired of hearing rock music on the bluegrass station. As a result, I have been listening more and more to the country classic station. It sounds so good to hear the stars that I grew up hearing. I have been buying a lot of the CD's of these classic stars, at least one good CD from each. This CD has all of Loretta Lynn's greatest hits, that I can remember, and I have really enjoyed this CD. In both bluegrass and country music, most or the supper stars are now dead, and there seems to be nobody to replace them. If you want a great CD of Loretta Lynn, buy this one. You will not be disappointed.

I love Loretta Lynn and her music. I didn't have any of her music on cd though and decided this had all the hits on it that i know and love. Coal Miner's Daughter, Don't Come Home a Drinkin' and After the Fire is Gone and Lead Me On are my favorites. I was surprised to see that a couple of her duets with Conway Twitty (Louisiana Woman Mississippi Man and As Soon As I Hang Up the Phone) are also on this cd. If you like Loretta then you'll like this. Enjoy !

I am a Loretta Lynn fan and was very pleased at the great selection of her songs on this CD. You know how you choose a CD that has some of your favorite songs but have to suffer through some which you personally are not crazy about? Well, this one really has many of her most enjoyable classics. They have a lot of her best humorous ones on here as well. Also, if you haven't listened to Loretta Lynn before and really want to hear what all the fuss is about I would strongly recommend this CD.

　パッツィ・クラインやブレンダ・リーをプロデュースしていたナッシュヴィル・サウンドの雄、オーウェン・ブラッドリーが一貫してプロデュースしており、60年代は甘いストリングスを多用せずにホンキートンクな雰囲気を残した音、70年代はポップスやアダルト・コンテンポラリーの影響が強い音になっています。もっぱらラジオ局向けに職人によってパッケージされた定型詩のような音をバックにしてなおなぜロレッタが一際輝いたのかは、彼女の物語を語る能力にあります。リトル・ウィリーズもカバーした「拳の街（Fist City）」は、愛する男をたぶらかそうとする女に対する威嚇であるし、ホワイト・ストライプスがさらっと歌った 「X指定（Rated X）」 は、離婚した女性が男性に比べると色眼鏡で見られがちだという話であるしで、こんな内容がカントリー独特の機知に富んだ言葉使いの歌詞でカラっと明るく歌われるのだから、そういう精神の土壌が殆どない日本では逆に新鮮に感じられます。検索すればもちろん英語だけど歌詞に触れることはできますので、お試しください。

　実際に「炭坑夫の娘（Coal Miner's Daughter）」であったロレッタは、ソロでは「酒飲みで浮気性の夫に一筋の子だくさんの肝っ玉女」のキャラで殆ど統一されていて、コンウェイ・トゥイッティとのデュエットでも男女のはじまりから終わりまでのそれぞれの場面を歌い上げています。女性の自立が目立った時代背景の歌もあったり、しっとりした大人の歌もありで、歌詞がわかればもっと味わいが出て来る、そんな一枚です。

Loretta is an artist that has been around for a long time, with many number 1`s to her credit, including the soundtrack of her life `Coal Miner`s Daughter`, yet she is hardly known in the UK. Her strong accent only adds to the quality of these recordings. The only other familiar song is her cover of the Patsy Cline classic, `She`s Got You`.

Loretta Lynn is a legend, held in reverence by her fans and her fellow artists. She has now passed 80 years old and is still going strong ! Long may this Queen of Country reign.
