Ana was born and raised in Laredo, TX. She attended Laredo Community College on an Athletic Volleyball Scholarship and upon graduation she transferred to Concordia University Texas on an Academic scholarship where she would also continue to play volleyball. Ana did well in her studies and upon graduation in 2009, Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, she was voted by her professors as the Communications Student of the Year.
Apart from receiving both athletic and scholastic accolades throughout her college career, Ana also took a personal interest in pageant competition and set a goal to win the title of Miss Texas USA. After several attempts and a tremendous amount of perseverance, Ana was voted Miss Congeniality in 2007, 2nd runner up in 2008, 2nd runner up in 2009, 1st runner up in 2010, and in 2011 accomplished her goal, becoming Miss Texas USA 2011. The ultimate highlight was competing at the nationally televised Miss USA Pageant which is owned and operated by Donald Trump and the Miss Universe Organization. Ana made family and friends and the entire State proud finishing 3rd Runner-up to Miss USA 2011, among young women from all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
During her reign as Miss Texas USA Ana served as an advocate for Breast and Ovarian Cancer awareness. Having lost her Mom to Ovarian Cancer in 2004, it was her mission to raise awareness and funds to help battle the dreadful disease. In memory of her mother Ana created the Rosanna C. Garza Teal We Crown a Cure event which helped to raise $65,000 in support of The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. “I wanted to serve as my mother’s voice. I made it my goal to share her story and her battle, so that through awareness I could possibly help to prevent other women from having to endure a similar struggle.”
Ana also has a strong passion for children. As a former preschool teacher in Austin, TX and as Miss Texas USA, she was a promoter of health and fitness and a mentor to many young children. She traveled over 35,000 miles throughout the State of Texas to share her personal and inspiring story of perseverance, frequently quoting her pastor, “every setback is a setup for a comeback.”
Most recently Ana has spent time as a professional model and spokeswoman for designer Tony Bowls of Mon Cheri Bridal. Her likeness has been featured in various publications including Seventeen, Cosmo Girl, and Pageantry. She was also on the red carpet as a news correspondent for “The Pageant Guy” and “Pageant Vision.” In addition, Ana appeared on MTV’s program “Made.” During the show, Ana had the role of a coach and mentor for Jordan Hysell, a young South Carolina high school student who had for years aspired to compete in a pageant.
Ana’s message is quite clear, “If you can DREAM and if you can BELIEVE, and then ACT on those beliefs, you can BECOME the person in your Dream. LET GO of fear and LET GOD be in control.”
Ana Christina brings with her some incredible life experiences some of which led her to audition and accept the position as Host and Producer of “The Dish”. She is looking forward to the show and is extremely happy and proud to be a part of the Augusta Community.
