4 Spice ups

Going from memory here. But go into settings, think it’s in security settings or factory defaults. If not somewhere in the settings.
But there’s an option to reset to factory defaults. I did it before when I had one.
Have a look it’s in there somewhere in settings.

there is no default settings option.

Please see below:

" There are basically 2 forms of reset: a “hard” or “cold” reset, and a “soft” or “warm” reset. Most of the time, a “soft” reset is all that’s necessary, but sometimes you need to take it a bit further. I recommend trying a soft reset first, and if that doesn’t work, try a hard reset. But the choice is yours - they’re both easy to do and BlackBerry 10 devices start up a lot faster than the legacy devices so either way you won’t have to wait long to get back to work.

Here’s how to do a soft reset:

Hold down the power switch for about 3 seconds, until you see a black screen with button choices.Press the “Restart” button at the bottom-right of the display.

There’s more than one way to do a hard reset, here are the options:

Option 1: Power off the device, then power up again

Hold down the power switch for about 3 seconds, until you see a black screen with button choices. The screen will start a 3-second additional timer and advise you it is turning off in 3, 2, 1… seconds.Keep holding the power button until the timer expires, and the device will power off. The OS needs to do a little “housekeeping” before it powers off, that takes around 30 seconds or so.When the screen has gone completely black for ~30 seconds or so, you can hold the power button for 1-2 seconds to turn it back on. The red LED will blink momentarily. (If you had a charger plugged in when the device was powered-off, it will show either a charging icon momentarily and a “slow pulsing yellow” LED to indicate charging, or a green LED to indicate “full charge”)

Option 2: The “Kool Kidz” method (Does not work on Z10 STL100-1. )

This is reputedly the favored method of BlackBerry’s development staff. It has the advantage of being quicker than the “power off/on” method, with the slight disadvantage (or advantage?) of taking a screenshot of your device screen every time you execute it.
Hold down both volume buttons at the same time, for about 10 seconds, until the screen goes black. Some people prefer to continue holding the buttons until the square blue BlackBerry starting logo appears. (Another 30 sec or so)The device will restart by itself."

BTW, my Passport after four and half years is still running smoothly. I do a normal (soft) restart at least once a month and it helps. Only the browser is showing its age.

Hope it helps, keep us updated with the progress.

Like I said going from memory only, was 4 phones ago. But I know I did it a few times, wasn’t too hard. Quick Google search got me this, they seem familiar.

Do the Security Wipe. On the second link it’s Second Method

Thanks, cigar-boy

No 2 links are solved my problem.

Back in the day, there was very helpful blackberry help website (which was shutdown some time ago).

In there, they suggested to re-install the OS via BlackBerry Link. Do you still have Link installed somewhere? Whether it would still work today I’m not sure. Normally Link would download the OS and install it on your device. Whether this option still works, provided Link would still work (it already had functionality issues on Windows 10) is a question with no answer to it, I guess.

Other than that, you are left with the soft/hard reboot options only. There is not much else left to troubleshoot and get it fixed, I’m afraid.

Under settings, there is only an option to wipe securely the device. It will wipe all your data, as it suggests but it doesn’t do anything to the OS, as such.

Maybe, if you have some Android apps, it would be enough to install them, one by one, to see if there is at least one of them, causing the trouble. Other than that, as I said, my Passport is running like a new one even after such a long time. There is a random “slow down” usually by wipe-up of the browser. But all other apps and features work seamlessly, the navigation is smooth on mine. The physical keyboard is a dream to type on it and I will miss it hugely. The only reason I will replace it in the near feature is because of the browser (some websites don’t work properly, the most affecting me is Google Maps. I guess on purpose  ) and the lost integration with OneDrive. Apart from that I still love the keyboard, hub, gestures, the excellent call quality and very loud stereo speakers, the superb built quality and the features built-in into the OS (night mode especially). It will all be hugely missed by me.

Follow these two steps you can reset your blackberry password.

To restart your device, press and hold the Power/Lock key on the top of your device. Tap.

To reset your device, press and hold the Power/Lock key for ten seconds.
