Time Out
This is socially conscious cinema at its most powerful and important. It might be tough to witness, but it's vital that we do.

An excoriating, urgent look at the sordid world of global sex trafficking, anchored by a head-turning performance from newcomer Mrunal Thakur.

It is powerful filmmaking, but I found questionable the packaging of sexual violence with the uplifting notes of mainstream entertainment.

Flickering Myth
This is a bracing and unsettling movie that never pulls a punch in depicting the horror of sexual slavery.

At several points during Love Sonia, I found it hard to not question its real purpose: Is it really to highlight unimaginable trauma or fetishise it?

Tabrez Noorani's film is credible and forceful, with an excellent performance by Mrunal Thakur, but doesn't quite escape the deadening air of educational drama.

A poignant piece of film-making. Treads the fine line between sensitive and melodramatic, and thankfully, never goes too far into the latter territory. Really liked Thakur's debut performance. However, what stood for me was Pinto's cameo.. wish we got to watch more of her.

Hard hitting and well executed with a fabulous cast. Special mention for Mrunal Thakur who does an amazing job in her debut film.

The dark side of sex-trafficking depicted in this film hits right to your core. It literally shook me from the inside! Everything in the film including acting, casting, script and storyline etc are excellent! Emotions are handled very well and the pace is good. A must watch beautiful piece of Indian cinema! Just watch it without a thought!

Mind blowing, puts you on edge. Makes you a tad uncomfortable, but reflects what is going on behind the scenes of international human trafficking. Poverty, love of family, greed, betrayal and involvement of people of different social-economic levels, including CEOS, professors, law enforcement, and shipping and other transport industries who aid and abet in such trafficking by looking the other way!!

Raw and hard hitting, the movie struck a beautiful chord in multiple ways. It made me sob at the end, yet made me believe in goodness of people. It made me want to do something. It made me want to act. What more could a movie aim to achieve? Move its audience and lead it to action. Loved the tight handheld shots!
