I never heard of him, but I was prompted to listen to "Yakkety Sax."

Made his name as Yosser in Boys from the Blackstuff - a ground-breaking social drama that was must-watch TV when first broadcast in 1982:
I met Bernard Hill at Pensacon on Leap Day Weekend in 2020, the last convention I attended before they started getting postponed or canceled due to the pandemic. He was quite regal and elegant.
I purchased from him a copy of this TITANIC photo, which he personalized to me, wrote 'Best Wishes' on and autographed. He wrote Capt. Smith's name next to his signature. I've always had trouble spotting Mark Lindsay Chapman in TITANIC, so I asked Bernard if one of the crewmen flanking him in the photo was Mark Lindsay Chapman. "NO!" was his blustery response.
I was curious, too, about Bernard's having played John Lennon in 1985. I thought that might elicit some interesting insights or anecdotes... but I was wrong. He sounded annoyed that I was even aware of his having played Lennon. "Where did you hear that?" or "How did you know that?" was his response: I forget which. I told him that information is listed on the Internet as among his credits. He seemed so miffed, I thought he might yank back the photo and cross out the 'Best wishes' part.

Loved his doddery old medicine man in SCORPION KING, fiddling with this new powder he's discovered that can blow things up.
Also the male "lead" in DROWNING BY NUMBERS, a creepy little movie.
