Weer wat wijzer geworden over onze vaderlandse geschiedenis. Goed verzorgd museum, infofilmpjes duren alleen net iets te lang waardoor de aandacht verslapt en je afhaakt. Wij aren er op een door-de-weekse-dag, de kazematten zijn dan gesloten.

Of course every dutchie needs to visit this place. And Dillenburg is a real nice little town in the middle of the hills. I did not meet any other fellow Dutchie, which made it a bit weird. Anyways, the tower is a prominent eye catcher. It has been build upon the old castle and you can see it ruins all around. The complex is pretty big. You can go in for the kassematten, which are the underground tunnels and must be amazing. You have to pay for a ticket in which they show you around. Also the tower has a museum, which you pay for. The premises itself are free. We did not enter, since we were just chilling around the place. The Linde is obviously also a markpoint to visit, you might pass by it on your way up and it is just a tree, but when you have historical feeling it is nice to have a stop at.
It is also nice to visit the stables beneath the castle hill. Next to the hofgarten, which is really small but has a nice Biergarten.

Great for Dutch people. This tower stands on the site of the former castle of the Nassaus. The Dutch William of Orange founder of the Dutch Republic and ancestor of the current royal family was born here. Don't be surprised if you meet a lot of Dutch

Je wil toch weten waar je nl roots liggen. Mooie toren die later op de restanten van het verwoeste kasteel gebouwd is.

Wenn man nach Dillenburg kommt und etwas Zeit, sollte man den Wilhelmsturm und auch die Kasematten besuchen. Wenn die Zeit nicht reicht, auf jeden Fall die Kasematten.

Interessante plek over de geschiedenis van de oranjes. De toren bevat veel informatie en bovendien ook in het Nederlands. Van het kasteel is alleen nog de toren over. Kazematten hebben we bezocht en zijn groter dan ik had verwacht.

O castelo de Dilemburgo tem como atração principal para os brasileiros o fato de ser o local de nascimento do Conde (e depois Príncipe) João Maurício de Nassau (Johan Maurits van Nassau, ou Johann Moritz von Nassau), o eminente Governador do Brasil holandês entre 1637 e 1644. Por seu papel de fomento às artes e às ciências, suas realizações urbanísticas no Recife, e sua atuação tolerante em relação às várias religiões (a Companhia das Índias Ocidentais da Holanda, que o empregava, era controlada pelos calvinistas), Maurício é considerado como o melhor administrador colonial de todos os tempos (apud Charles Boxer). Em Dilemburgo também nasceu o Pai da Pátria dos holandeses, Guilherme de Orange, o Taciturno, tio-avô de João Maurício.
