Raúl Eduardo Esparza is an American stage, screen, and voice actor. Considered one of Broadway's leading men since the 2000s, he is best known for his Tony Award-nominated performance as Bobby in the 2006 Broadway revival of Company and for his television role as New York Assistant District Attorney (ADA) Rafael Barba in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, where he had a recurring role in Season 14 and was promoted to a series regular in Seasons 15 to 19.
His family was all born in Cuba, but he was born in the United States. He considers himself Cuban-American.
One of only a handful of actors to have received 4 nominations for Broadway Tony Awards in just 5 years, 3 of which were consecutive, and all of which were for both plays and musicals.
Nominated for the 2009 Tony Award for Best Performance for a Leading Actor in a Play for "Speed-the-Plow".
