Semi-spoilers ahead for those who haven’t gotten to where I am yet.

Currently I’m HR 14, and right now I’m on a quest where you have to slay three Elder dragons (windy boi, flame boi, and zombie boi). I’m struggling w/ the wind dragon because he keeps knocking my ass around and is almost CONSTANTLY in the air, and I can only carry so many flash pods...
So I’m asking. What weapons and armor should I use against this guy, and for Elder Dragons in general? I main the long sword/shotel/katana thing if that helps, and I’m working on getting the Nergi sword or w/e.
I’m also wondering what specific sets I should have in general, since I kinda realized that having just one main set of armor and a main weapon won’t cut it. But I’m not sure what armor combos will work well.

You can have 13 flash pods if you bring the materials to craft them, and they are more than enough for the fight.
Also you can recraft them through the itemwheel, whiel you are in combat.
Take a farcaster. If 13 flashes aren't enough, farcaster back to camp and restock.
For the windy boi, his own armour is the best because you never get blown away by his wind. You can carry 13 flaspods in total if you take 10 flash bugs in your pouch.
For elder dragons in general, the deviljho longsword is the best because of the high raw and elderseal, after this the divine slasher.
For armour the Nergigante helmet is your best friend, teostra arms alpha are also great, as well as death stench legs for the handicraft. But the absolute best armour for longsword requires hr 16, once you hit hr 16 there will apear a special assigment questline to get the best armour in the game.
You're not seriously suggesting a new player struggling with elder dragons to immediately hit up Behemoth are you?
Given that you can't take on Behemoth's questline until HR 16 (after beating the elder dragons), I don't think so, just that there's something to look forward to down the line as a longsword user.
Hey, read the description, not just the tittle. He is hr 14 now. I only told him when he can start getting Behemoth armour because Drachen is that good, not that he must get it right now.
That way if he wants to get the armour when he hits hr 16 he could farm it with plunderblade, he doesn't even need to kill behemoth, but Drachen is that good so is better he knows about it and looks forward to it.
Good advice but those LS are outdated. Taroth Sword Fire and Kjaar Decay are respectably the new Divine Slasher and Reaver Calamity. Although they come after Kulve Taroth so tour advice is good for a beginner still.
Nah, all the TA world records for every elder dragon except Luna and Behemoth are made with either Divine slasher or reaver calamity. They are actually on par with both Taroth Fire and Kjarr decay.
You should give them a try too, they are pretty and better looking that the Kulve Taroth ones.
LOL I farmed for those swords so intensely and got none. I use the ones that the OP mentioned.
To your point: speedrunners use different builds that you wouldn’t use for normal hunting, with different abilities and such.
In any case, all of them are strong meta options and you are not going wrong with any.
Sadly his own Armor is the best against him.... "yeah" 3 Pieces to be exact and no BS Windgesture anymore
You can forget about the Normal Windproof Skill it has so little benefits. Rocksteady Mantle is not availible too you atm that would be another good Helper.
Ive done his AT Version just without his Armor (was to lazy to craft 3 Normal Pieces) and its doable. I would highly recommend to Craft the Reaver Calamity (Deviljho LS) first, its another Pain in the Ass to get, but it will serve you good againts all of them. Play as agressive as possible with the Foresight Slash and knock him Over. The Elderseal on Joes Sword helps you from Time to Time.
Attack 4 Health 3 Tenderizer (as much as possible) Stun Res 3 or Devine Blessing 3
I would farm vaal hazak and snag 3 pieces of his armor. You get the health regen (Chest, belt, and gloves,) then throw on the eye patch and rathalos legs for weakness exploit and use the deviljho LS and you should be fine. Just try to upgrade the armor to max first.
Easiest way to kill Kushala
1, Get hunting horn with wind negation 2. Get a full group of hunters 3. Play Wind negation song 4. Profit
For me the bazel armor helped a lot because it prevents you from getting oneshooted. Bombs can also help. Or bring some friends its often easier in a group of 4.
When I got into elder territory I switched from bow and dbs to Lance. It gave me the breathing room to learn their move set, and now I play greatsword.
Skip kushala for now and stomp vaal and teo, then maybe try to join a kushala sos for your story progression. Things get easier once you get a bit deeper in you will start finding better stuff that will make the Sneezy bastard a cinch.
