Saloni Daini, who is widely known as Gangubai for her comedy act in Comedy Circus as a kid, is making a comeback in acting with the internationally acclaimed film 'Thank You For Coming'. The film, which is led by Bhumi Pednekar, Shehnaaz Gill, Kusha Kapila, Karan Kundrra and others, also stars Saloni.
In an exclusive conversation with ETimes TV, Saloni spoke about attempting a serious role for the first time, her overwhelming experience at the premiere night and more.
Saloni had shared video from the premiere night and the actress said in interview, "I can't still digest the love that I felt in the premiere. It was very overwhelming. I didn't know that I would get so emotional. The second half of the film really hit me. I saw my parents' reaction and it hit differently. I didn't expect so many people to come up to me to appreciate my performance. They were complementing my work and I couldn't believe it. It was a surreal night and I didn't expect it at all."

The once child actress, who made everyone laugh with the comic skills said, "When I was small, I was always into comedy. I didn't explore any other genre. This 'Thank You For Coming' I have a very serious role. It is a funny film but my character (Rabya) goes through serious teenage issues. It is totally different from what I have done in the past. Exploring that was really fun for me. Due to my workshops at Artist's Collective, I could play this character with intensity. I am 22 and I remember the experience of this film journey. I don't remember much of my film experience when I was young. I just hope this gives me more opportunities in future."
Saloni plays the role of a 16-yr-old Rabya, who goes through teenage issues and goes to Bhumi for relationship advice. Speaking about the entire film experience, she said, "When the film released we could actually feel that it's happening. They had seen the film at the Toronto Film Festival and had sent me voice notes. Everyone was so happy and I could see their happiness. Everybody was cheering and celebrating the film. In the premiere night, we were clicking pictures and felt it's finally over. We started film an year and half ago and it's finally hitting the cinemas. So it was really fun with them."
The movie will hit theatres in India on October 6.
