      Critics Consensus

Let the Right One In doesn't hold a candle to the cinematic original, but viewers who invite this vampiric chronicle into their homes and television screens will be rewarded with compelling performances.

John Doyle Globe and Mail There are moments when the series is delicate, and sensitive... But the sum is less than its parts and while breezily watchable as horror, it loses power when it’s a crime-drama. Oct 31, 2022 Full Review Karl Quinn The Age (Australia) There’s a crushing sadness about this tale. But with its mash-up of police procedural and kitchen confidential, it’s also happy to stray from home base. Rated: 3/5 Oct 14, 2022 Full Review Amanda Feinman Slant Magazine The show’s central story resonates most when it shows us its beating heart. Rated: 2.5/4 Oct 11, 2022 Full Review Martin Carr Yahoo! Movies Defined through bloodlust and family melodrama, this new Paramount+ series reinvents the Alfredson classic for a new generation. May 20, 2023 Full Review Carolyn Mauricette View From The Dark It’s a shame that such a well-crafted show has fallen due to big business mergers and mixed reviews. I suggest anyone interested should check the series out while it’s still available. Rated: 4/5 Jan 31, 2023 Full Review Erin Maxwell LA Weekly/Village Voice But in the end, the series is a win for Showtime thanks to the powerful performances from Bichir and Baez, as well as Cole and Anika None Rose, who plays Isaiah’s mother, a police detective who discovers an uptick in homicides in her fair city. Willhelm K A horrible version of what the original swedish movie was. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 05/02/24 Full Review Morgan R The show gets better as the series progresses. Child and adult actors deliver excellent performances. The writing is top notch and the conclusion leaves you craving for season 2. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/21/24 Full Review Honest D It's OK. Its based on a movie that is better in every single aspect. I cant think of any GOOD reasons to make a remake, although i can think of a few cynical reasons. Just watch the original first and if your up for a pale comparison afterwards, well that's on you. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 09/20/23 Full Review Sultana M It's a great show, and I love that they made a new thing about vampire's story. Actually they made something different and better than anything I've watched before about vampires. It was a sad & shame that they cancelled its season 2, It was a stupid decision they take it. I hope one day a company do season 2 of it.❤🙏 Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/05/23 Full Review Blake W The Let the Right One In TV series is more inspired by concepts and circumstances from the book than a direct adaption of it. every adaption of this story has strayed away from the novel in someway, but this series steps the furthest away from it, by making the man who looks after Eleanor/Ellie (The girl who is a stand in for Eli), her actual father. many familiar elements from the book are present in the show, but are altered slightly. Naomi is the mother of Isaiah (The boy character who is a stand in for Oskar). she is also a detective and is obviously a combination of his mother and the Detective from the novel. The series has a lot of callbacks to the novel/film, but tries create a original story that could take place in the world of the original. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/03/23 Full Review Michael M I actually enjoyed this series. It wasn't the best thing I watched all year, but it certainly wasn't the worst. I was disappointed to hear that it wouldn't be returning for a second season. Also hearing that it was removed entirely from showtime is rather disturbing. Why bother subscribing to their service if they are going to treat their customers (fans of these shows) this way. Completely disrespectful, and poor business practice.
