“Flexible Strategies” appeared as the B-side the 1981’s smash hit “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic” and later came to appear and be the title track from The Police’s B-side album released digitally in 2017 and later in physical LP and CD formats of the “Every Move You Make” box-set.

The title of the Song comes from a US defence report from 1957 under President Eisenhower which argued for limited use of weapons of mass destruction against Soviet aggression, contradicting the MAD doctrine.

The song makes heavy use of horns, melodic guitar riffs, funky baseline and the abundance of drum fills from Copeland.
