W Taipei garners praise for its prime location and modern vibe, with many guests enjoying easy access to shopping and transport as well as the hotel's contemporary design and lively atmosphere. However, some travelers report that the service can be hit or miss, sometimes falling short of expectations for the premium price point. While the spacious rooms with stunning views often impress, a few visitors have pointed out design and maintenance shortcomings. The cleanliness is consistently applauded, but opinions on value and amenities are mixed, with particular appreciation for the breakfast offerings.

We were there for the Taipei marathon and the location of the hotel was only 5 minutes walk from the start. For us, it was the perfect location not only for the race but also because it is right in the heart of the city with easy access to shopping malls, restaurants and bars.

The room was decent size with ok toiletries (bliss) but nice bathroom that has a bathtub as well as a stand-alone shower. Bed was comfy. One commendable compliment is the hotel generosity of bottled water - one gets at least 6 bottles in the room.

In-room dining at the restaurant was great, so was the buffet breakfast at the Kitchen Table. The buffet breakfast costed about HK$250 per person but was well worth the money considering the variety and quality of food (genuine wholesome food like fresh fruits and real fruit juices).

To be honest, the hotel’s got to have the best location in Taipei. It’s relatively close to the MRT station, downstairs is a department store, the environment is clean The waiter at the door was very enthusiastic and very helpful with the luggage. The front desk agents were very limited hence the long wait, but they managed to handle it well. Hell, we even got an upgrade. I wonder if we would still get the upgrade if it I used my employee rate instead of the elite status😂. The room was spacious, soundproofed, and well-equipped. Really liked the Tv. There’s some difficulty with the curtains, but it’s not biggie. Very good breakfast and pool! The overall decoration style of the hotel was very tidal, the colour with the typical nightclub music, that’s the significance of the W hotels.

My flight was cancelled and after much consideration, decided to extend my stay for one more day and booked W Taipei for 1 night, since most of my friends were "egging" me to try it out.

The magical experience started the moment I step foot on the hotel from the taxi. From the professional services rendered, they really ensured every guest felt important.

Special thanks to Karen Chan, the Loyalty Team Manager, who had made the experience so much more enriching by coming out to greet me and even walked me to my room. Not to mention the Hotel also upgraded my room to the 29th Floor, the 2nd highest floor in the hotel, overlooking Taipei 101.

The room was beautifully designed, equipped with awesome BOSE System and even had an automated toilet. Bed and pillows were so soft that one could easily fall asleep on it.

Despite that my Birthday was over, Karen had also specially prepared a birthday cake and a specialized card, much to my delight.

Breakfast was extremely splendid despite the different arrangement due to the virus. Chef Gerard had also made the effort to greet every guest and explain the arrangement that The Kitchen Room had prepared.

With my flight at 5.45 the following day, the Hotel was even prepared to let me check out as late as 3pm. This was a very delightful thought and gesture as it reduces the time I needed to kill while waiting for my flight.

Last but not the least, Karen had also allowed and gave me each of the different designs of their keycards for keepsake.

Overall, I had nothing but joy and happiness staying in the hotel. It certainly had surpassed all of my expectations with their impeccable services and accommodation.

Will definitely be back again to W Taipei!

I started to stay at W Taipei more for business recent two years. At first I was pleasantly surprised with the hotel upkeeps (given it’s been 8, 9 years since its opening), and you heard about all these parties that happened in the hotel. The rooms are generally in decent conditions. But during my latest stay, I gotta say I am quite disappointed with the stay. Things are definitely deteriorating, at least not as pleasant as my previous stay.

- one of reading lights above the bed was broken

- when I tried to call whatever/whenever service at the night when I checked in around 11pm. Took me 2 or 3 times to finally reach someone

- and today after I got back, this gotta be one of
most poorly made hotel bed I have ever seen . It was just sloppy. Pillow case is wrinkle, bed sheet was not tugged in.

. I used to enjoy coming back to the hotel, but gotta say experience of this trip has definitely been a little disappointing. I hope the hotel can see the message and work to improve the situation.

I was initially a little apprehensive about coming back to this hotel as my last stay years back was not up to my expectations in many aspects but decided to proceed as I had arranged my activities around that area.

Prior to arrival , I had some email exchanges with their Loyalty Team Leader, Karen Chan, and after some emails decided to give it a try.

On arrival , I was happy to see that Karen was at the reception expecting me and she took care of the check in quickly. I was also given an upgrade despite being told it may not be available and this certainly make my day.

The room is ultra cool and spacious with a good working table which is a must for all my trips. What definitely made my day is that this is one hotel that ensure guests gets lots of bottled water in such weather and conditions which is well thought of gesture. The room is splendid and the only set back would be the wash basin in the additional bathroom which has a shallow sink that when you use it , it tends to spill out , otherwise nothing to fault about.

The breakfast though not that fantastic but I like the fact that they offered order to cook options which make it a warm breakfast which other ready to eat option hotels do not offer. I also like the open air dining next to the pool.

Perhaps this is a hip hotel so the lack of lounge for evening cocktails would be something I get lacking but they offer drinks during happy hours at the bar.

What makes this stay wonderful is the attentiveness of their “talents” which certainly include Karen Chan

You get why you expect from a W hotel , loud lively bright place with friendly staff (a special mention to Yunis who was really helpful) .
the room design was bright with loud colors but still seemed just right.
The breakfast buffet was full of variety but the space was too small for the size of the hotel, I think it needs a small expansion.
Finally the elevators can be a bit annoying as you need to take 2 sets of elevators to get to your room
Overall would recommend this hotel if you want to stay in the Xinyi area. A modern part of town with access to great shopping 101 and Elephant mountain

I was looking forward to the stay. I arrived following a long flight from the Uk. I could barely hear anything whilst trying to check in at around 11pm as the Bar next to reception was just blaring music.
We then ordered room service which they got the order wrong.
Finally got to sleep- the mattress lacked any support. Was woken up by music being played at 6am. I phoned reception who sent someone up to investigate and it turned out the noise was coming from the pool. They turned the music down a bit but the volume was again blasting around 11am despite there not being a Single person in the pool area. I had to inform reception that some hotel guests may be in different time zones.
Location was great and we got to sample the local delights which included bubble tea and dumplings.
For a hotel which prides itself as being a five star establishment I would expect every single aspect including housekeeping, food and customer service to be exceptional.

The room itself was not clean. Some parts of the bathroom door were covered in a layer of dust and so was the mirror in the entrance hall.

The reception staff was kind enough to send me some ear plugs but the casing was cracked.
Housekeeping turned up late - usually well after midday.
The rain shower stopped draining properly after the 2nd day.

This hotel clearly caters for a specific crowd ie Gen Z and Instagrammers.
If you are middle aged, with a bad back and with a low noise tolerance i would suggest staying somewhere else. I was perpetually furious and jet lagged throughout my stay.

This hotel is trying to be cutting edge, but misses the mark. Location is fine but for the price you will do a lot better elsewhere and receive the service you expect in Taipei.

You need to take an elevator to the reception desk, not unusual but the reception area is minimalist, with minimalist attention to guests as well. It's a bit of a shambles, you'd think it was a temporary set up due to renovation but it seems its permanently this way!

On the room, nothing much more than you'd expect from a 3* hotel, not very spacious, poorly designed. The room is cluttered, an "amenities bar" that is huge but a vacuum in terms of actual amenities, takes up space, not even a spoon to stir coffee - but wooden stirrers in plastic, not very environmentally friendly. No milk, just "creamer". The bathroom has a single basin, but the bench is far too low, great for the Seven Dwarfs if they visit though. Shower pressure and space pretty good but did notice mould on the tiles, so perhaps a bit more attention to the cleaning wouldn't go astray. There is no turn down service, not the end of the world but you do expect it when paying for a 5* venue (which presumably is self assessed).

The absolute worst part of this hotel is the Desk Manager we encountered the evening before our departure. I have never experienced a more racist and arrogant person in any hotel I've stayed at. When seeking a one hour later checkout (for a Monday morning departure) we were advised that we could have 30 minutes, which was pointless given we'd not be back in time. Asked for reconsideration from a higher level as the attendant was extremely dismissive, the Desk Manager was worse, came out and clearly had had a bad day, was aggressive and not client focused at all. Attacked us verbally for abusing her staff, of course couldn't say what the abuse was as she wasn't there, and the "offended" staff member wouldn't elaborate either, but she insisted she'd "defend her staff" even though she never bothered to hear our side. She then revoked the extra 30 minutes (which meant nothing in reality as we weren't taking it anyway) and went on a power trip, presumably because we mere guests were wasting her time and she wanted to get back to whatever she was doing behind the wall of the check in counter. She would only speak Mandarin and the guy who had apparently been offended just stood there looking smug. Totally uncharacteristic treatment and behaviour for Taiwan and clearly not customer focused at all. Both of these people could use a 2 year posting at Din Tai Fung to get some customer service training. The Director of Operations the next morning was apologetic and tried to recover the situation for the hotel however the evening Desk Manager ruined the stay for us and we won't be back, and going forward I'll be dropping the Marriott Group totally for any business related hotel stays globally.

Miscommunication resulting in staff entering your room while the do not disturb sign is up. Dirty looks from a man working at the concierge resulting in escalating tensions. One of the male duty managers who has an extremely bad attitude accuses me of forgetting to turn off the do not disturb sign causing further escalating tensions. Restaurant manager at the 31st floor Yen restaurant making a derogatory remark about Chinese Mainlanders. That alone can sum up the character of some of the staff working at this property. Will not recommend this hotel or ever return.

Parking the car was unclear as signage doesn't distinguish where the hotel lobby elevator is. Then the elevate doesn't say what floor you should check in on. It's on the tenth floor.

As a Platinum member, I felt special with the little extra greetings. However, a bottle of prosecco and Badiot water sure seems lacking to my stays at other Marriott properties, where a tray of food is included for happy hours.

The facility is spotless and tidy. However, I found the decor more contemporary than I prefer, plus some things are starting to share their wear, especially tread areas.

While quite cool looking, the bathroom has a sink with multiple surface heights and little space to put your toiletries upon. The towels, definitely nice and fluffy.

The bathtub worked well for a couple and had lovely lasting hot water in opening the room dividers and turning off the room lights. We bathed in the mountains.

I found the bed too soft, though the white noise generator was a pleasant surprise and quickly helped get me off to sleep.

I originally asked for room service breakfast, yet as we woke late, we were readily accommodated in the restaurant to eat there instead. The food options were pleasantly varied, yet the menu provided no clues for safe foods for food allergy people like myself. I ended up sick to my stomach because something turned out to be fried then baked.

Check-out was quick and easy. Plus we were offered extra parking time which we didn't avail.

My Platinum status and using a Suite Night award should have gotten me a better room; I didn't. Only what I paid for. I was disappointed as the per nights points for W Hotel are twice what I typically spend at the Sheraton, where I often get a nice large corner room.

Still, I had a good stay and recommend the place for the younger or thrilling crowd.
