An Algonquin man who was one of three charged in the fatal beating of a father in Kane County has been sentenced to probation after taking a plea deal.
Kurt E. Doporcyk, 44, of Algonquin, was charged in Kane County Circuit Court in July 2021 with second-degree murder, two counts of aggravated battery and mob action.
Two others, Peter Stoyshich, 33, of Belize, Central America, and Ryan Barrett, 35, of Huntley, were also indicted on the same charges.
Police investigators identified the three as being involved in a road rage incident at the Casey’s General Store in West Dundee on June 10, 2021.
A physical altercation occurred involving six men, including the three suspects, as a result of a motorist dispute between two vehicles, police said.
The three other men were injured by the suspects.
One of the victims, Alex T. Hall, 52, of Carpentersville, died three days later from his injuries in the attack.
Hall was a single father of two children. “He was defending his son’s life whom which was hospitalized and badly injured,” Woodstock resident Raymond Hall said in a fundraiser at the time.
Court records show Doporcyk pleaded guilty on Thursday to one count of mob action, a Class 4 felony.
In exchange, his other charges were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
Kane County Judge Julia Yetter approved the plea deal and sentenced Doporcyk to 24 months of probation.
A 180-day jail sentence was stayed and will not be imposed as long as Doporcyk complies with all conditions of his probation, court records show.
In February 2023, Barrett pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, a Class 1 felony, in exchange for the rest of his charges also being dismissed.
Kane County Judge Salvatore LoPiccolo Jr. approved that plea deal and sentenced Barrett to 30 days in jail and two years of probation.
Stoyshich is not in custody yet on the charges and a warrant remains active.
