Getting Started in Ghetto House
I wanna jump right in and add some more interesting genres to my library and i just turned left into Ghetto House-ville on Soundcloud and was wondering who are the current best Ghetto House producers right now and i can go from there.
I really like this: Pusha T x Future - Move that Dop (Angelz Edit)
https://soundcloud.com/angelzofficial/pusha-t-x-future-move-that-dope-angelz-edit
Amine Edge & DANCE are considered pioneers of this style.
Check out destructo, shiba San, wax motif, and vanilla ace as well.
This man has got the right of it, for a different style also check out DJ ASSAULT (Craig Diamonds) you may remember him from Ass 'N Titties on newgrounds and he went on Diplo and friends a few months ago
thanks!! gonna check him out too!
i JUST discovered Vanilla Ace through the Hard Summer 2014 recap video! I wish I knew who he was before I went this year. This ALWAYS happens lol.
Shiba San, i definitely didn't know was in that style. i LOVE Okay! I think i had a schedule conflict that day of Hard, and I only knew that song.
Gonna have to check out Destructo, i feel like i'm commiting a crime by going to Hard Summer and never have listened to his music!
Thanks so much!!
Dude vanilla ace is so sick live. Me and my girl met some dude at goldroom first night at hard summer and we seemed to have very similar tastes. He recommended I check out vanilla ace the next day so we did and it was such a killer set! Destructo was good too but vanilla ace smashed it. Enjoy!
As far as shiba San goes, his productions are all bangers. I'm actually bummed out I missed him at hard summer but I think I was at 2manydjs and I've always wanted to check them(they were legendary that day). Check out "Fuck that" and "bad boy(shiba San remix)". Two songs I been playin on repeat lately. He also posts a shitload of his live sets on his soundcloud which are a blast to listen to. Love me some house music, and I especially love introducing people to house music.
ugh, at the time i didn't want to leave the people i just met up with.
Going off on my own is something I feel will have to happen as more and more often as i discover new producers/djs.
I heard Shiba San threw the fuck down. I was with people I just met at Clockwork.
I bet he smashed it. I saw Justin Martin 1st day and he played "Okay" and brought the fucking tent down. One of my absolute favorite moments of the weekend.
Yea man either convince your friends that they won't regret seeing a deephouse set or missing out on a big name DJ or just go out on your own. People think if they haven't heard of someone they're not gonna like it but it seems like the opposite for me. Once somebody hears a real deep house or techno set live they will never go back to electrohouse/trap again haha. Wish I could be there for DOTD, that lineup is too good.
Ghetto House or ghetto tech?
For classic ghetto tech, check Database Records.
Lotta hard hitters on that label.
AWESOME! Thanks alot! i'll check the label out!
DJ Funk.
i'll check him out!! thanks!
The angelz tune you posted kinda reminds me of this tune i made & i didn't know there was a genre for it. www.soundcloud.com/4tytw0/traphouse-1
yea lol, and nice track! it seems like the genre is when it's house structure with hip hop/rap elements. But I don't wanna get into the specifics since that's subjective to everyone and is lame to do. I just know Ghetto House is what i'm leaning towards lately at the moment.
Ghetto house i feel has darker elements that you're probably looking for like a trap/house crossover that is how i thought out that tune in my head, granted i made the majority of that that tune in like 6 hours, but i don't know if there is really anyone making something like that as a genre. I do know bootyhouse is & has been quite a big thing like that other guy mentioned DJ assault & i know there is DJ funk who both use more playful/ sexual elements hence bootyhouse if you're looking for close inspiration. I just really enjoy how the trap chants help carry the beat in ghettohouse.
that actually could be and i agree about the juggling of house and trap in G-House.
i'm just looking for interesting transitions, juxtapositions, and surprises in music and i'm looking into this now and it's catching my interest.
that song you made is good, thanks for sharing that!
I appreciate your appreciation holmie. I like throwing the beat off into a dark pool of bass with just enough wobble to keep the rhythm. Seems to catch people off guard. Lemme know what you come up with.
lol i don't produce, i just like to good music and mix in my hobby time in my bedroom
The beatangers make great g house
sweet!! i'll check them out! thanks!
Not sure if they fit but I like some of the Paul Anthony & ZXX tracks.
sweet, thanks for the tip!!
In addition to the artists named here, Kolombo is my absolute favorite. Also, check out anything put out by Say Lou Lou Records
added to listening later list!
Forgot to add Earstrip & Torha ..lesser known, but they rule. Enjoy!
DJ Dan does more disco house but he has some dope Ghetto house influenced tracks. Check out Engine No. 9 by him thats a dope one.
