House of Gucci: three simple words and one hell of a story. The new movie, which stars Lady Gaga and Adam Driver as Patrizia Regianni and Maurizio Gucci and inspired by the book of the same name, is set to hit the big screen on November 24th, 2021. With a star-studded cast and some epic one-liners (Gaga’s utterance of “Father, Son, House of Gucci” is nothing less than iconic), there’s plenty to be excited about before this movie’s release.

Of course, what we can’t wait for is the clothes—and if the trailer is anything to go by, it seems like we’re in for a luxury fashion feast. Gucci CEO Marco Bizzarri reportedly gave the movie’s production team “total creative freedom” when constructing the costumes. From white lace dresses to chunky knitwear, we’ve rounded up the best fashion moments, plucked straight from the set of the House of Gucci

Warning: spoilers ahead.

A Couple That Skis Together Stays Together

It was the picture that started it all: Gaga and Driver in their ’80s-inspired ski-cladding set against the picturesque backdrop of the Italian Alps. For Driver, this took the form of a chunky cable knit turtleneck sweater, which has been on our mood boards since it landed on our Instagram feeds in May. He matched the knit with a white snowsuit and, of course, big retro-framed glasses to coincide with the outlandish style of the era. In some sense, Driver’s minimalist palette relates to Maurizio Gucci’s mindset at that point in the couple’s story—one of little worries and filled with lots of love and glamour.

On the topic of glamour, there is nothing pared-back about Gaga’s après-ski attire, and we are ever-thankful for it. Using a black sweater as a foundational piece, the costume was decorated with jaw-dropping gold jewelry, including a ring that speaks of Reggiani’s introduction to the Gucci family (she married Maurizio in 1973). While it was the jewelry that confirmed the character’s high-flying status, what caught our eye was the snow-white chinchilla headband. Though the fashion house stopped using real fur in 2018, the headpiece contextualizes the unbridled extravagance of the couple.

More Texture, Please

Reggiani famously once said “It is better to cry in a Rolls-Royce than be happy on a bicycle,” and this is a sentiment Gaga embodies in her vintage get-up. Dressed in a purple dress that boasts a hand-painted effect, the singer and actress was a vision of Italian beauty as she filmed scenes with co-stars Jared Leto and Adam Driver in the streets of Rome. The garment was brought to new levels of luxury, thanks to the added Gucci accessories consisting of a navy silk scarf, which the star gracefully draped over her head, and a pebbled black leather bag emblazoned with the old Gucci logo. Fun fact: Tom Ford renovated the brand’s logo in the ’90s (think: a cubic G) to be more reflective of the brand’s sensual image. Ever the maximalist, Reggiani needed another material—so the look was topped with a fur covering for an added touch of elegance.

A Classic Check Coat for a First Date

Similar to the modern-day pursuit of love, dating involves us showing the best parts of ourselves, and that includes our wardrobes. Here, Gaga can be seen deviating from her Gucci uniform, opting for a traditional Burberry check trench coat instead. After all, the old adage goes “treat them mean to keep them keen”—and what can be more jestful than donning a garment from the rival brand? That said, Gucci did make an appearance in her look by way of  Gaga’s nude horsebit sandals, showing that Gaga’s character is still a Gucci girl at heart.

Don’t Come Between A Man and His Turtleneck

A man in a well-fitted blazer and turtleneck is a formidable creature. Case in point: Adam Driver. The actor evoked the suave sophistication of the Gucci heir when walking to meet his beloved in Lake Como, Italy. The navy jacket, decorated with gold buttons, symbolized the inherent elegance of Maurizio Gucci as they reflected the summer light in the Italian town. Paired with a rectangular timepiece of the same bright hue, it’s clear that Driver is well-suited (literally) for the part of the Gucci golden boy.

A White Lace Summer Dress

We don’t want to speak too soon, but this has to be our favorite House of Gucci fashion moment so far—as we’re sure there will be some unexpected ‘fits to come. What we love about this lace-trimmed summer dress and the matching cardigan is how it spotlights Gaga’s, and by extension Reggiani’s, natural beauty (the socialite turned Gucci wife was often compared to Elizabeth Taylor for her dark features and striking beauty). In true Reggiani fashion though, no outfit is complete without a hint of glamour, which comes in the form of decadent pearl-drop earring and a supple-leather clutch.

Clean Shave and a Crisp Shirt

For this scene, the House of Gucci costume department has taken us back to basics, allowing Driver to shine in his character’s Italian glory while shooting in Rome. Sporting a forest green cotton shirt, straight-leg chino pants, and Gucci loafers, the outfit works cohesively with the capital city, symbolizing the synergy that the protagonist has with his home country. But even Maurizio couldn’t resist the opulent touch of Midas as he teams his pared-back attire with gilded cufflinks and, of course, a Gucci belt.

Here Comes the Happy Couple

Throughout the movie, both Reggiani's and Gucci’s outfits have been nearly identical to the ones donned by the couple in the ’80s and ’90s. But on their wedding day, that pattern changes. For her original wedding dress, Reggiani opted for a more conservative, less-decorated gown, comprised of a high-neck, a low hem, and a tapered waist. Whereas here, Gaga can still be seen wearing a white lace dress with a high-low hem and a sweetheart neckline. Conversely, Driver remained consistent with Mr. Gucci’s original getup, wearing a pair of pinstripe trousers and a tailcoat blazer for a dapper look.

The Black Widow Rises

When Reggiani was accused of the assassination of her late husband, the Italian press were quick to label her a “black widow,” nodding to the myth that the spider eats its mate. Dressed in a fur coat and a blood-red dress that just so happens to match her nails, this is the first time that we get a glimpse at this piercing sensibility. With Gaga’s deep brown eyes and perfect pout, it’s clear that some looks were made to kill.

Father, Son, House of Gucci.

From the staple bag that draws on the Italian fashion houses’ red and green color palette to the fur coat effortlessly placed on the protagonist’s shoulders, we consider this to be one of the most resonant fashion moments in House of Gucci thus far. Gaga’s Reggiani truly comes into her own, embracing the Gucci name and its monogrammed pieces. In this outfit, Reggiani worships at the altar of the renowned brand.
